March 5-7, 2026
British Roots Island Style featuring India Hicks

Savannah is America’s Hostess City and this year we celebrate the city’s entertaining traditions with events in historic homes and gardens surrounded by antiques and classic decor. Organized by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia, a 501C3 charitable organization, this event supports the ongoing preservation of two of the City’s prominent historic houses, t

he Andrew Low House Museum and The Green-Meldrim House. EVENTS:

TABLESCAPES DISPLAY AND CONTEST, March 11 and 12
There will be a fun table-setting contest with celebrity judges and prizes at the Green-Meldrim House. Regional designers, merchants, hostesses, and party planners will stage a Table Scape display and contest utilizing antiques and other local resources in the Green-Meldrim House for all attendees to vote on the People’s Choice Awards and celebrity judges will also select the top two winners. This event will inspire us all to entertain our families and guests with great flare. PRIVATE HOUSE TOUR AND RECEPTION, March 11
For the past several years private residents have opened their doors for exclusive tours of their homes. This year Mr. Greg Parker, CEO of Parker’s Markets will welcome guests to his historic home on Monterey Square for an intimate reception and tours with our keynote speaker, Suzanne Kasler, who will also be signing her books. Kasler collaborated with Parker on some of his interiors. FABULOUS FETE, March 12

Celebrating Historic Preservation Month with a closer look at the remarkable legacy of architect John S. Norris, one of Savannah’s most influential yet often overlooked designers. His work helped shape the architectural character of the city we know today, blending styles with creativity and vision during a transformative period in Savannah’s history.

This beautifully revised edition of John S. Norris: Architect in Savannah 1846–1860 by Mary Lane Morrison, revised and edited by Beth Lattimore Reiter, highlights the importance of documenting and preserving Savannah’s historic built environment for future generations.

Republished by the The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia with support from the Mary Lane Morrison Foundation Inc.

Treasures 250: a peak at the objects that bring American history to life.

This breakfront mahogany secretary bookcase, now at the Andrew Low House in Savannah, GA, exemplifies American craftsmanship at its highest level. Featuring richly figured “plum pudding” mahogany, rosewood banding, and a fall-front secretary drawer, it is attributed to Joseph B. Barry & Son—an exceptionally rare surviving example of their work. Likely acquired in 1798 by Robert Mackay during his time in Savannah, it has remained in the Mackay family ever since. Today, displayed in the back parlor, the open desk presents copies of Andrew Low’s letters, offering a glimpse into the daily life, refinement, and aspirations of a prominent 19th-century household.

Celebrate Historic Preservation Month with us as we honor a trailblazer who helped shape the beauty of Savannah🌿

Join the Andrew Low House Museum and the Green-Meldrim House Museum for a special program highlighting the life and legacy of Clermont Lee—a pioneering woman in landscape architecture whose vision helped preserve and define some of our city’s most cherished green spaces.

This two-day event features an engaging lecture by Ced Dolder, followed by a reception, and a guided walking tour through the very landscapes influenced by Lee’s work. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with Savannah’s rich history while celebrating the importance of preservation in our community.

FREE and open to the public May 21 & 22

Come be inspired by the legacy of preservation and the woman who helped make it flourish.🌿
