This Friday, May 8th, 7pm Saugerties Public Library please come to this very special screening of Borderland The Line Within (2024, 110 mins.) with filmmakers, Pamela Yates and Paco de Onís, who will introduce their powerful documentary with a q&a post screening. From the filmmakers -“We are living in dangerous times. Yet, even in the darkest hour there are always people finding apathy forward. While making Borderland, I sought out visionaries who propose solutions, leaders who speak from their own lived experiences to guide us through their lives and speak of new ideas. Immigrants all, their courage is contagious.”

Borderland is not to be missed - see you at the library!

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control Elaine May's Mikey and Nicky won't screen this evening, 3/20, in its place at 7pm is Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson. Directed by the great Robert Altman, who takes a not surprising revisionist perspective on the western genre and myth. Buffalo Bill stars Paul Newman as William F. Cody along with Geraldine Chaplin, Joel Grey, Harvey Keitel and Burt Lancaster as Bill's biographer, Ned Buntline. Bring popcorn - this will be fun! Running time is 123 minutes. This Friday, 11/14, 7pm Saugerties Public Library Saugerties Film Society honors Diane Keaton with the screening of Love and Death, (1975, 75 mins.) written and directed by Woody Allen starring his favorite leading lady/muse, Ms. Keaton. This hilarious ode to Bob Hope, Marx Brothers and Bergman’s Persona, is a send up of Russian novels set during the Napoleonic wars. In my not so humble opinion, Love and Death is one of the funniest of Allen's films. See you at the Library Comrades! Hilarious . . .
