Founded in the late 1990’s by Laurie Stephenson, the Saratoga Springs Youth Orchestra (SSYO) began with the single vision of developing a world-class youth orchestra within Saratoga Springs. Over the years the orchestra has welcomed many young musicians from throughout the region, affording each an opportunity to pursue their personal aspirations and love for music. Today, the SSYO is an ensemble based music program accepting advanced student musicians from the Saratoga region and surrounding counties in northern, upstate New York. The Board of SSYO takes pride in the wide range of music that has been performed over the years, all under the guidance of outstanding artistic directorship.

Hi all SSYO members, this is Mary, Gioacchino's wife, I have a request. I know many of you have stories of working with Maestro Longobardi and being part of SSYO. I wondered if you would be interested sharing these stories.

Gioacchino's world of music was something I only witnessed from observation, since I do not play an instrument. I missed the nuances of that relationship with him.

If you have stories, could you share those with me by writing to me? Such as did he teach you something? was he interesting or too demanding? Hello to anyone still out there from Susan Reiter- an admin of this page. It's been 12 years since we were part of Saratoga Springs lip dub ( Train-Drops of Jupiter!) And exactly 10 years ago we were touring Italy. I have many wonderful memories of that time🎶❤️. I'm sad to say I've lost track of all you over the years and I hope you're all doing well. Thanks for the memories SSYO❤️❤️ The picture is from Lucca, Puccini's birthplace.

Good morning from snowy Saratoga Springs! This page continues to be a wonderful scrapbook of the years we spent rebuilding and growing into the world-class Youth Orchestra that we were. People continue to leave comments and view our music so we will continue to keep this page active. Thank you again, SSYO for the memories. Maybe sometime we can do a roll call of where our young people are now! Ciao!

Dear friends, The Saratoga Springs Youth Orchestra is no longer active. We will leave this page up because it is a scrapbook of the two wonderful years that we were re-organized, re-focused and re-energized.
