Wikipedia: The Saratoga Springs Skatepark is New York State's first municipal skatepark (est. 1988) located in the center of the East Side Recreation area on Lake Avenue. The exercise facility is known for its cement skateboard pool, installed in 2004, which the city filled with dirt in March 2010. A group of skateboarders then publicly offered to dig out the pool by hand which prompted the city t

o excavate it in November 2011.[8] The skatepark is free, open to the public and has a skate-at-your-own-risk policy per the New York Recreational Use Statute.

Harold Hunter Day is under way! If you are anywhere close, make a beeline to one of these events as a stellar time is guaranteed for all. Yup - that's my photo. Let's DO THIS!!! Happy 50th Haroldl!

Harold Hunter would have turned 50 this year - a highly unique personality, skating legend, New York City icon and Actor (most notably in Larry Clark’s KIDS in 1995). He was also sponsored by Zoo York, shot campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger and was part of the OG Supreme crew (with fellow actor Justin Pierce) that helped spark a generational cultural shift. A New Yorker through and through he had a deep passion for the city he grew up in and an especially close affiliation with the Twin Towers that he was often photographed against in those early days, so deep was this passion Hunter got a tattoo of the pre 911 New York skyline on his left arm with a skateboarder in unison. Harold passed away tragically early in February 2006 at just 31 years of age. However his legacy remains and grows from strength to strength year on year. Moreover the seeks to use skateboarding as a vehicle to keep kids occupied and active on often dangerous streets. RIP Harold Hunter (1974-2006)

ATTENTION!!!!! ----The renovation of the Saratoga Skatepark is starting right now but WE NEED SKATERS TO HELP MONITOR THE PARK because there continues to be the subject of significant vandalism which is undermining the current renovation project as well as creating an unsafe environment which may result in closure of the park. PLEASE REPORT OR DISSUADE ANYONE YOU SEE FROM VANDALIZING ANYTHING NEAR THERE. THANK YOU!!

It is happening! Starting this Monday, 4/10, the skatepark will be closed for construction until late summer. DPW will be starting with the bowl, and Artisan will be coming a few weeks later to build! We are estimating 3-4 months for construction, and then we will have a new, fully concrete skatepark. While it's inconvenient to not have a park for awhile, it will all be worth it, so please be patient. Hugs and high fives to everyone who has helped and supported the skatepark.
