"SWING" - A vibrant addition to Payne Park Tennis Center!

This morning, we celebrated the dedication of “SWING,” a dynamic new sculpture by internationally commissioned artist Michael DiCarlo. Despite the wet weather, the rain held off long enough for a wonderful unveiling event at PPTC.

DiCarlo’s work is known for transforming public spaces through movement, color, and interaction with light, and SWING beautifully embodies that spirit. Each evening, the sculpture glows with illumination that creates a captivating journey of motion and energy.

Big shout‑out to the Sarasota Community and the Public Art Committee for absolutely ace‑ing the selection and adding another winner to the creative landscape of PPTC. Come experience “SWING” at the Payne Park Tennis Center.

As part of Park and Recreation Month, we’re proud to celebrate Park and Recreation Professionals Day on Friday, July 17, 2026. This is a special day to recognize all the dedicated professionals who help build strong, vibrant, and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation.
To help us observe this day, join us in the Payne Park amphitheater from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM for Backyard Games, laughter, and plenty of outdoor fun. It’s a free event, and a great way to celebrate our amazing team while enjoying time with the community.
