The America’s Cup is the oldest active trophy in international sport, predating the Olympics we know today by 45 years. Established in 1851, the “Auld Mug” was born when the schooner “America” crossed the Atlantic and defeated a fleet of British yachts around the Isle of Wight.
The US dominated for 132 years and over that course of time, Captain Charlie Barr successfully captained three victorious defenses in the competition. He captained the Columbia in 1899, again in 1901, and the Reliance in 1903.
In this lecture series, “Built to Win,” Shane Couch and Alasdair Purves will give their insight into this historic sport and bring fresh new perspectives and artworks.
We hope to see you there and if you are unable to attend, we invite you to join virtually to witness this phenomenal lecture. There is a link in our bio for your convenience.
