TARTUFFE
Written by Molière
Translated by Richard Wilbur
Directed by Marcus D. Johnson

Prim and devout Orgon invites the holy and pure Tartuffe into his bourgeois household. So virtuous is Tartuffe that every form of pleasure is abhorrent to him. At least that is what he would have you believe.

Theatre’s most devout conman returns to the Cook Theatre, performed in what is arguably the most famous adaptation of this comedic classic.

CAESAR
Written by William Shakespeare
Adapted & Directed by Jonathan Epstein

When beloved leader Caesar returns to Rome, fears of tyranny lead Brutus and Cassius to plot his assassination, sparking chaos, violent uprising, and emotional rhetoric that leaves audiences questioning, “Is Brutus the hero or the villain.” Caesar is a gripping political thriller about power, betrayal, and the cost of liberty.

Shakespeare may have written Julius Caesar as the first of his plays to be performed at the Globe, in 1599. For it, he turned to a key event in Roman history: Caesar’s death at the hands of friends and fellow politicians. Renaissance writers disagreed over the assassination, seeing Brutus, a leading conspirator, as either hero or villain. Shakespeare’s play keeps this debate alive.

UPDATE: Due to overwhelmingly positive response, we will be closing submissions by 11:59pm Thursday, July 16th. We want to give each of the 300+ submissions as much attention and care as we can, and know that our capacity to do so with greater than that number starts to diminish. Thank you in advance for understanding.

The Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training is now accepting submissions for its second New Works Play Lab.

At the New Works Play Lab, playwrights collaborate with MFA Directing and Acting students from one of the TOP Theatre Schools in the country to develop their play and have a staged reading in front of an audience! Stipend, travel, and lodging provided.

Submission guidelines can be accessed via the QR code or this link directly to the submission form: https://forms.gle/gBfJdmeq1hsuayJ78
