Today we celebrate our loyal companions who brighten our days, keep us active, and support us in countless ways.
Looking for the perfect spot to enjoy the day with your furry friend? The City of Sarasota has many beautiful parks to stroll with your dog, including peaceful waterfront walks at Bayfront Park, Ken Thompson Park or Sapphire Shores Park.
And for pups who love to socialize and play, we offer two fantastic dog parks:
• Gillespie Park, Canine Club
• Arlington Park, Paw Park

It's hard to believe that our summer sessions of swim lessons at the Arlington Recreation Center are wrapping up this week. But don’t worry—new sessions are right around the corner!
Check out all the amazing things our little swimmers have been learning; water safety skills, beginner strokes, confidence in and around the pool, and of course plenty of water‑adventure fun with our incredible instructors.
We’re so proud of their progress and can’t wait to welcome everyone back for the next session!

🌈 Last week, creativity was in full color at Chalk the Trail at Arlington Park!

Our campers from Arlington Recreation Center and , along with neighbors and friends from the community, mixed up their own liquid chalk and transformed the trail into a vibrant outdoor masterpiece. 🎨✨

The fun didn't stop there! Participants enjoyed a nature-inspired scavenger hunt, spotted turtles soaking up the sunshine on the pond raft, bounced away in the bounce house, and cooled off with delicious treats from . 🍦🐢🌳

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this colorful celebration. It was a wonderful reminder of , , and as we celebrated together.

As part of Park and Recreation Month, we’re proud to celebrate Park and Recreation Professionals Day on Friday, July 17, 2026. This is a special day to recognize all the dedicated professionals who help build strong, vibrant, and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation.
To help us observe this day, join us in the Payne Park amphitheater from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM for Backyard Games, laughter, and plenty of outdoor fun. It’s a free event, and a great way to celebrate our amazing team while enjoying time with the community.
