Skiing emerged as a popular leisure activity in Japan during the 1920s. Chikatoshi created several paintings and poster designs featuring skiers that celebrate the mobility, athleticism, and independence of modern Japanese women, while remaining within the era’s socially accepted ideals of femininity.

We're restoring the Rupp Pavilion (https://www.ringling.org/restoring-the-rupp-pavilion/), formerly called the Banyan Cafe, across from the Historic Circus Museum. As part of the project, we are curating an exhibition for its interior and we're looking for pictures of our visitors at the building—whatever it's iteration from a hot dog stand to the Banyan Cafe—over the past several decades. We invite you to share your photos at [email protected] for consideration.
