✨ The Japanese art of flower arrangement ✨

Ikebana is more than just arranging flowers it’s a meditative Japanese art that balances line, space, and harmony. Rooted in centuries of tradition, Ikebana invites you to slow down, connect with nature, and create beauty with intention.

This special series is a collaboration between Wide Island Studio, Carpenter Studio, and Red Seed Studios.

Last night, Red Seed Studios had the honor of participating in a special event hosted by Book No. 1 in Sarasota, in collaboration with CreArte Latino. We were invited to promote our Gallery and see the work of our current solo exhibiting artist, Larry Henry, who contributed a live painting session during the event.

Larry created a piece titled “Of the tides and the winds”, on site.!.
Larry was inspired by .miguel.soto writings and by the themes expressed throughout the evening.

Of the Tides and Winds
Acrylic on canvas

A beach ball floats in a stormy sea, bright, colorful, and full of movement. It represents the immigrant spirit: fragile, full of hopes, weightless and seeking a better future. Yet it is subject to external forces, tides and winds that determine its path, often without regard for its intentions or desires.

Though it carries joy and resilience, it has little control over its direction,pushed and pulled by tides and winds it did not choose. The piece reflects this contrast between inner vibrancy and imposed uncertainty.

The work reflects the conflict between internal drive and external limitations, between personal identity and imposed direction.

At the end of the evening, Of the Tides and Winds was raffled and awarded to an attendee who was visibly moved by the experience. The event featured poetry, live music, and visual art in a meaningful and collaborative format.

We’re grateful to and for the opportunity to showcase our work and contribute to this vibrant cultural exchange.

As a young giraffe, Mamie traveled by train as part of the Ringling Traveling Circus. Before long, however, her growing height made further travel difficult. She then spent many years fascinating the residents of Sarasota by taking part in the local Ringling Parade.
I can still picture her along Lido Beach, staring into the sunset as sanderlings frolicked nearby. Larry Henry

A vision from 1947, when architect Paul Rudolph designed a guest house on Siesta Key for the Finney family.
Like so many architectural projects, it was never built. Yet it lives again in this painting-reflecting light, framing vistas of the setting sun, and bracing for a storm’s arrival. Larry Henry
