I started パンク Panku because I was frustrated that I couldn't find the kind of art that I wanted on skateboards. Sure, there are some great boards out there, but not much that spoke to me personally. So I decided to make boards that I wanted to ride... ones that (it seemed) would never be made otherwise. But this meant screen printing.... Which I didn't know how to do and once I did, I'd be learnin

g to navigate concave in an "off contact" environment. I'm not gonna lie, that s**t was crazy hard to get down to a science. This is not a skateboard company. I'm Just a normal human making art that he always wanted to ride and sharing it with you while he's doing it. I'm positive you'll dig these, even if the photos don't do them justice. I've been making them for a couple years, and the reception has been overwhelming.

I love it when my friends send me rad stuff in the mail. And this recent one from is no exception. I love the quality and attention to detail they put into their music and all corresponding media. I tried to show the reflectivity on the silver sticker, I’ll have to take a better shot once I add it to my other favorites on my car. This was Hanzo. He lived for 15 years. Of the many pets I’ve shared time with, he is hands down the one I feel most fortunate to have known. He had gentle boundaries, was a lover not a biter, was extremely loyal and had a huge appetite for play. When he didn’t want to be touched he made a sound like a Tauntaun, which never failed to make me smile. He would howl on demand, chase the ball you threw and run off with it. He would bark at anyone who he didn’t know and run from his poo 💩 like it was explosive 🧨 For all of those late nights when he’d go upstairs to check on my pregnant wife and all the others he slept by my sons bedroom door, occasionally going in to stick his nose in the rails of the crib. For every bark, every howl, every upside down snoring session, I was blessed by his friendship. He was rocksteady. He will be deeply missed.

On behalf of the skateboarders of Sarasota county, has started a fundraiser for a new addition to Payne Skatepark! We want to add a 20 foot wide X 4-1/2 foot tall 1/4 pipe in the street section. Jake needs this addition to help him get speed for the “big section” of the park to practice tricks for the upcoming summer Olympics in Tokyo. Jake will be one of the 4 U.S. Skaters going to Tokyo to represent the USA Skateboarding team. Jake is also having this addition added to the park for the rest of the community. This addition will provide a new obstacle for the skaters to ride and will improve the flow of the skate park.
The city has minimal funding due to Covid budget cuts so they have asked us to raise the money ourselves for this addition. We have partnered up with Chris Cantwell and Tom Sanger pools to help build this quarter pipe. We are estimating up to $15,000 to be needed for the budget to cover all of the cost.

We are teaming up with local businesses to offset the cost of some of the landscape and construction. PJ H local skater has agreed to mitigate 3 palm trees that need to be moved for construction for free!We can’t thank Tom Sanger Pools enough for helping get this project on its feet.

Amazing mail call today. A couple years ago I sent a John Carpenter’s “ The Thing” poster to my homie Rory McGuire, (husband of )and he definitely one upped me when he sent me this amazing DREW STRUZAN "THE GOONIES" TIMED EDITION. A 24 x 36 inch, 15 color screen print, Hand-numbered and signed by the incredible . A photo just doesn’t do it justice, But I’ll try to get a better one while I’m getting it framed. I’ve met some really talented people since starting パンク Panku Skateboards 5 years ago. aka Tyler Mangus is one of them. He sent me a super rad care package this week that I wanted to share with you. The Brak fan art was a commission of sorts, check out his recent space ghost post and you can put 2 and 2 together. Also included was a first printing of “ Proteus Particle Volume 1” a graphic novel of the first 3 issues. As well as issue # 1 of “Pack of strays”. Both of which I’m very much looking forward to reading. Did I mention that he wrote, drew and published these all by himself? Yeah, fu***ng nuts right? I’ve received dm’s and emails asking if I’m still printing boards or doing custom graphics. The long answer is on March 12th my Akira art exposition closed early when the world shut down due to covid-19 and with it all the resources that my wife and I had to help take care of our 2 year old. So I decided to put Panku on hold to take care of him full time, while my wife continues to run her company. We’ve been sheltering since then and while I get a few hours a day to be able to work on design, it doesn’t leave enough time to print decks, let alone meet the demands of my customers. I love designing and printing on skateboards and I will find a way to get back to it as soon as we find a new sense of normalcy...But parents have to make tough choices sometimes and as any parent who’s been in a similar position knows, it wasn’t hard to make it all.
Happy Father’s Day! If you can, reach out to your dad today, it’s likely that he’s gladly sacrificed for you in ways you didn’t even realize.
