It feels so good to paint. Happy day ☀️
I need to get back into the swing of creating after a super busy spring at the studios, vacation for a month, entertaining, a big grand finale celebration of the work I did all fall, and some upheavals in life.
WIPs here, unsure where they'll end up, but I love painting over old pieces. It gives such cool texture and adds history. I'm thinking of starting a series called TMI. I'm always thinking of new concepts, but this one has been brewing for a while. After hanging out in the woods last month, and wrestling with technology for the past week since I have been back, I want to throw my devices in the Gulf and appreciate analog life. I'm going to embrace the joy of painting and truly enjoy my wonderful life. I really loved being in Wisconsin, but I really really really love my life in Florida. 🌴🌊💖

We grew up really poor. I felt very very fortunate to receive the 64 color crayon box when I did. Opening a fresh box was a thrill - it felt like the world was at my fingertips.
Faced with a million color options, I choose ALL of them.

Our young studio artist at SRQ East Art Studios, Andromeda, was hospitalized for days again and has suffered from a stroke for the second time since joining our studio community. Andromeda is a single mother trying to get her precious gem jewelry design and piercing business off the ground. She also works a regular job with a jeweler in town. She is such a bright light and we all have loved having her around the studios. This has been heartbreaking to see. She has lost so much time at work, has astronomical hospital bills, and her personal business is stalled. As a studio community, we wanted to start a fund to support her. If you can help with any amount at all, it would be greatly appreciated. ❤️

It was an honor to be a juror for the Community Art Show. The reception was held at Bay Preserve Park inside the beautiful Burrows-Matson House. The exhibition was well attended and the staff and volunteers put on an excellent exhibition and reception.

So much talent!! It was hard to choose artworks for the exhibition because we had so many amazing entries and few spots - now I know not to feel too discouraged if I don't get chosen for a show. There were multiple jurors and criteria that we were looking for.

If you have never been to Bay Preserve, you should go check it out! It's a park with a beautiful waterfront view a dock where you can go fishing and it's open to the public.

Tonight is the ribbon cutting ceremony for Horizon West Bay in Largo, FL. Tours are scheduled at 4pm and the ceremony is at 5pm and open to the public. My tapestry is now installed in the lobby and I can't wait to see where the other paintings landed. They purchased over 40 original artworks and 8 of those belonged to me. So exciting!!

It's been a hot minute. I just got home from a month in Wisconsin and had to play with some color on a bigger canvas immediately. It felt soooo good to play. I'm not sure I remember how to paint anymore after so much relaxation, LOL. But I'll get back in the groove.

Here's a little photo dump of my experiences. I went inside the building where my old studio used to be in Milwaukee. I visited a circus museum in baraboo and a couple of galleries in Milwaukee. I found the motherlode while morel hunting! Yay! I got to hang out with my sisters and my Mom and my daughter. Gus got to see his best friend. Being in Wisconsin among friends and family was so good for my soul, but I truly did miss Sarasota and I'm happy to be back.

The color in this is inspired by my love for the bright, tropical colors of Florida. It's good to be home ❤️

I'm in the news!!! Well, my art anyway.
Bay News 9 filmed a story on the opening of Horizon West Bay in Largo Florida. You can see my tapestry installed in the entry and two other paintings in this short clip (edited for the reel, full story link below). SO exciting! They have several other paintings of mine in their permanent collection as well. They officially open May 19th. I can't wait to attend the ribbon cutting in June.
