This is a big one. 5x4
My daughter offered to do new headshots for me and I wanted something different for the background. I started this yesterday. Weirdly enough, I absolutely love it now and don't think I'll do much more to it besides finish the sides. If you know me at all, you know I'm a super slow painter. I ruminate, deliberate and fixate. Maybe I just need to go fast and get out of my head... not overthink. Lol.

My art studio is really coming along! Drywall went in super fast. If anyone in Sarasota needs someone reliable and affordable for drywall projects, our guy is fantastic. I can't wait to create my first art project here ❤️🎨🖌️

I keep 12x12 gessoed boards available to play around with. I use them like a journal page, so I don't get too attached. They feel more substantial than paper and I appreciate that. I'm really digging this one. I will add more, but I wanted to share.

Question: Do you obsess over your artist statement like I do?

I have been working on my website during this limbo/studio construction period. These are some screenshots of the first page on my Google Site. I'm still connecting my Square site (shopping cart) to the "available art" pages, but it's all functioning for now, I just need to add more to the available Square site section.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited to have the time to work on this!

I'll admit, I really love my most recent artist statement. It's forever a work in progress. I'm always evolving, but this one really says: this is Jen Kroeger (without all the art speak. And THAT is also really me. Not written by AI, thank you very much.)

A little progress on this 36x48. In between being cramped in my temp dining area/studio and the ongoing construction of my new art studio, I'm trying to make time for painting. Mostly I've just been scribbling on my iPad - I do love that as a creative outlet, it's just not as tactile. I am making sure to constantly sharpen my brain and keep making during this limbo period!

If I wore lipstick, this is the color I would wear. 💋

Here's what's been going on in my temporary studio.
I never really paint with red. I want to... just like I want to wear lipstick, but never do. Lol.
This red is a mix of pyrrole red, fluorescent red, a dash of fluorescent magenta and a teeny tiny touch of green gold to bring it back down to earth a little.

Wow!!! I haven't checked on this lately, but suddenly I have reached 1600 followers. I know that's nothing compared to the artists who have over 20k, but hey, admittedly I haven't been tending to my Instagram garden very much lately. And this is "au natural."

Btw, I absolutely love it when my art heroes follow me back. I truly try to follow everyone back (at least people who seem like real artists or new connections). If I haven't followed you, nudge me. Unless you're one of those people who grabs followers then deletes everyone you follow. Gross.

Thanks to all the true followers. And maybe even the bots who I have missed blocking. 🤣
