Sonic Rose is a Santa Rosa-based rock band, proud to celebrate 10 years of making music together. Their sound derives from a melting pot of musical influences across all genres, including Rush, Julian Lage, Sarah Gazarek, The Cranberries, Heart, Halestorm, Vulfpeck, Organ Freeman, Cory Wong, Jim Hall, and many others.

The band champions their female-fronted vocalist, Aleena Decker. Her husband, Scott Decker, is on the guitar, while Ian Riggle and Ryan Comiskey round out a stellar rhythm section on bass and drums respectively. With Decker at the helm, Sonic Rose is quickly becoming known as the “official band for girls’ night out.”

From prenatal yoga in Paris to ushering in Santa Rosa.

Jake More spends much of his working life traveling the world with his wife’s international prenatal yoga school. When he’s home, you’ll often find him volunteering at LBC. Why? Great music, comedy, and dance, and the chance to connect with people instead of sitting in front of a computer. “I like to make things a little bit better for a place or for people; to leave it better than I found it.”

Relive the 70s when Tower of Power returns to the LBC on Saturday, November 28! For 58 years, Tower of Power has delivered the best in funk and soul music. Once East Bay Grease defined their sound, the 70s were a boom period for the band with radio classics like “So Very Hard to Go” and “What Is Hip?” They continued to tour and record over the years, returning to Oakland in 2018 for their 50th anniversary. They’ve travelled the world, enjoying hit singles on their own and backing legendary artists, including Otis Redding, Elton John, Santana, the Grateful Dead, John Lee Ho**er, Aerosmith, Bonnie Raitt, and countless others. In the process they’ve defined the instantly recognizable “Oakland soul” sound.

Coming to the LBC on Sunday, November 22, An Evening with Alton Brown! Although he’s keeping details under wraps, Brown claims that An Evening of Alton Brown will stir up some twists on his greatest hits and spice things up with new demonstrations, music, and slightly scaled-down mayhem. The performance is sure to present Brown as you’ve never seen him – unless you’ve been invited to his house.

The Rush Tribute Project brings its homage to one of the most enduring and influential bands in rock music to the LBC on Thursday, October 15. Combining skilled musicianship with exciting performances, The Rush Tribute Project (known as RTP to its dedicated fanbase) painstakingly recreates the sound and energy that made Rush one of the top-selling rock bands of all time. Using vintage instruments, multi-camera projection, state-of-the-art lighting & lasers, and signature virtuosity, RTP will be performing two full sets of music, including Moving Pictures in its entirety, as well as deep cuts like “La Villa Strangiato” and “Enter Nous.”

Our volunteers are essential to a positive theater experience, and that couldn't be more true than at our School Shows. Ushering at a School Show is a unique assignment that requires magic-like skills, like wrangling hundreds of exuberant young students with patience and compassion and communicating respectful theater etiquette while still encouraging a fun time. Part personality, part training, these skills are the focus of our annual LBC School Show Usher Orientation & Training. In preparation for LBC's School Show season just around the corner, 28 volunteers joined us on Tuesday to brush up on their magic. Fun fact, many of our school show volunteers are retired educators who love giving back to our community in this exceptional way!
