Art & Soul's January 2026 Newsletter! 🎉🎆

Happy New Year to all our Art & Soul family! We're so proud of all our students' hard work this last semester, and we're looking forward to the many adventures to come.

Our annual Student Art Show is coming up this February, and we're so excited to showcase our wonderful art students' many talents!

Please note that the deadline to submit art is in about 3 weeks on Friday, January 16th. So gather up the best of the best to show everyone how much your skills have grown!

The Student Art Show will be here at our studio on Sunday, February 15th from 1:00–2:30 PM. Admission is FREE, so bring all your friends and family as we celebrate our artists together!

Happy birthday, Teacher Rachel! Rachel was born into a musically rich family and her wide range of musical tastes and experience exemplifies this. Beginning classical piano lessons at age 5 and writing/performing her own songs by the age of eight, it was no surprise she would chose music and the performing arts as her lifelong career path. From the time she was 13, Rachel has been either the front woman of a band (Rock, Soul, Reggae, Funk, R&B, Folk, Country) or accompanying herself on piano or guitar, performing solo. After enrolling in the Recording Artist program at Musicians institute, Hollywood in 2004, she was recruited and toured the U.S. and internationally for 4 years as lead back up singer to Tre Harsdon of the legendary Los Angeles based hip-hop group Pharcyde. Rachel has toured with acts such as Michael Franti & Spearhead, Talib Kweli, Damien and Ziggy Marley, the Wailers, and with her Solo projects opened for acts such as Coco Montoya and Charlie Muscle White. Rachel has been signed to 3 independent labels in her hometown of Los Angeles, CA; written, produced and recorded two full length albums in the R&B/POP/SOUL genre and co-written and performed 3 contemporary Country hits that topped the national radio charts for 2 years in a row. She has written/produced/performed music for short films and pitches to major record labels. After relocating to Sonoma County in 2015 to start a family, she met Stevie Mac, founder and Guitarist of Lost Dog found, an award wining, local Sonoma County Swing/Soul/Big Band. Originally Rachel came in to sing lead as only a substitute, but she quickly acquired the role of lead singer/permanent feature of the group. After giving birth to her son in the summer of 2017, Rachel felt a strong pull to pursue working with children who had the same dreams and aspirations as she did. She hopes to inspire likeminded kids to use their creativity through musical expression to make a difference in the world.

Art & Soul is excited to announce Wicked: A Spring Dance & Choir Production! This will be an expansion of our annual Spring Dance Production and will include a co-performing choir. (Ages 5–18 for dance & 8–18 for the choir.)

Our January Paint Night, "Purple Moon," is in just a couple weeks! Follow along with our Paint Night mentor to create a gorgeous lunar glow, framed with a dramatic silhouetted tree. A perfect way to start your New Year! 🌕✨

For those new to our paint nights, we provide you with paint, canvas, and brushes, and our Paint Night mentor will lead you through a guided painting session that teaches some art fundamentals, while also giving you room to explore and make things your own! We'll have some light refreshments, and by the end you'll have your very own masterpiece to take home with you!

Our Story

Art & Soul School for Creative and Performing Arts, is a family-owned, and operated business serving the greater Bay Area since 2002. We believe in the creative nature of each child and strive to inspire growth through quality instruction in Art, Music and Dance. We are proud to offer affordable, creative, educational services, custom designed to fit your needs. We send highly qualified instructors, who have been fingerprinted and TB tested, into your school and homes, as well as our two north bay schools, to provide Enrichment Programs in Art & Music. In 2013, Art & Soul Music School opened it's doors to their first building. This 2000 sq. ft. state of the art teaching facility has 4 private teaching studios, a group music room, and an art room with with a kiln and potter's wheel. In 2016, they opened a second location in Windsor, Ca., also housing four private music rooms and dance studio and now expanding to offer art by August 2018.
