Workshop Spotlight: Musical Make-em-Ups
Day 6 of — for everyone who's ever wanted to make up a song on the spot and actually have it land.
🎓 MUSICAL MAKE-EM-UPS: FOUNDATIONS OF MUSICAL IMPROV
Friday, April 24 | 1:00–4:00 PM | Blue Door Theatre
Instructors: Michael Haycock & Jesse Markus
Making up songs in the moment — figuring out chord structures, building a pattern, making lyrics feel inevitable rather than accidental — is one of the most joyful and also most technically demanding things you can do in improv. Michael and Jesse are here to break it all down.
Michael Haycock is the Artistic Director of The Upfront Theatre in Bellingham, a co-founder of the Wasatch Improv Festival, and holds a Master's degree in Special Education (improv factored into his thesis — please ask him about it). Jesse Markus has been studying and performing improv for 18 years, is a performer and instructor at The Upfront Theatre, a seasoned corporate communication coach, and a founding board member of the Wasatch Improv Festival. Together they perform as Murder Fairy & Arson Leprechaun and have taught and performed all over the country.
If musical improv has ever been on your list of things to try, this is your workshop. Max 15 participants.
Workshop proceeds go directly to Michael & Jesse.
