Your personal brand is not a group project.
Someone asked me:
“What happens when you want to include a business partner’s perspective in your personal brand?”
My answer?
It’s not *people* branding.
It’s *personal* branding.
One person.
Your entire life is already built around compromise.
What your clients want.
What your partner wants.
What your kids want.
Where to go.
What to eat.
What to say.
So ask yourself:
Do you really want to compromise on who you are, too?
Other people can contribute to the business.
They can disagree with you.
They can have their own point of view.
But they don’t get to define you.
Here’s the rule I try to live by:
If making you happy requires me to stop being me, I’m not interested.
Your personal brand should sound like you.
Think like you.
Believe like you.
Otherwise, whose brand are you building?
