CASTING NOTICE:
Casting directors Edward Flores and Ryan Bernstein are currently casting a feature film, entitled Happy Face. It tackles the themes of conventional beauty, the human connection, and perseverance through life-altering experiences. It’s non union and shoots in Montreal during the month of October, with rehearsals sometime in July. The director is Alexandre Franchi https://pro-labs.imdb.com/name/nm1509906/.
We want to see if you have any talent who are available and would like to be considered! We have a couple of principal roles for trained actors with facial anomalies, and we also will be featuring a group of patients, depicted as going through therapy after their faces have changed, due to trauma or illness. Acting experience not necessary for the group of patients.
Here is the storyline, for your reference:
The story revolves around a tormented 19-year old boy, who convinces a group of patients with facial anomalies (i.e. hyper-pigmentation, scarring, paralysis, or structural changes from burns, accidents, or surgery) to rebel against society’s obsession with beauty—using their differences as a weapon to bring about social change. But when the patients discover that their boy-leader is only helping them, in order to atone for having abandoned his sick mother in the hospital when her illness made her physically repulsive to him— their trust, and all of their progress, crumbles. The boy must now face his mother alone.
The rate of pay would be $300/12hr shoot day. Housing, travel and per diem would be provided.
