Westside Ballet of Santa Monica

Westside Ballet of Santa Monica, a nonprofit organization, is one of the nation's premier ballet training pre-professional ballet companies.

Westside Ballet’s larger mission: bringing the importance of The Classical Arts to the forefront of the conscious stage in our immediate community. For five decades, our mission also has been to nurture our dancers and our local community by offering affordable, accessible performances — and by offering educational programs to thousands of public school students who may otherwise not be exposed to

classical ballet. In addition, Westside also donates over 1,000 tickets to organizations such as the Neighborhood Youth Association, Veteran’s Associations, and Everybody Dance! We partner with Santa Monica College and offer internships to college students, as well as offer a college credit class to our 9th-12th grade students. And finally, we offer financial aid to many Westside School of Ballet students.

The 2026–27 school year has officially started at Westside School of Ballet. We are excited to welcome our dancers back to the studios for another year of focused training, artistic development, and performance.

As classes begin, we look forward to a year of continued growth, new challenges, and opportunities for each dancer to develop their technique and artistry.

Welcome back to all of our students, families, and faculty. We look forward to the year ahead!

Today is the last day of this year’s Dance to Dreams Workshop! ✨

Dance to Dreams is about more than ballet—it’s about creating opportunity. By providing free dance training, mentorship, and a supportive community, the program helps young dancers build confidence, discover their potential, and pursue new possibilities.

Many Dance to Dreams students have gone on to receive scholarships and continue their training at Westside Ballet, opening doors to opportunities they may not have otherwise had. We’re proud to help make those pathways possible. 💙

Tomorrow we welcome back Sofiane Sylve for our Advanced Workshop, which will feature coaching on variations from the ballet Sleeping Beauty.

Ms. Sylve shares her expertise from her years as a renowned principal dancer at companies including Dutch National Ballet, New York City Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet, and is currently Artist-in-Residence with the National Ballet of Canada.

We are so excited to have Ms. Sylve back this summer and look forward to the week ahead!

The Adult Showcase performances will be held on August 1st at The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica. The two performances will take place at 2:30pm and 5:30pm. The show features an array of classical and neoclassical pieces by Westside’s celebrated faculty and wonderful adult students.

It’s not too late to enroll in Summer Intensives and Workshops!

Join us July 20 - 31 for Session 3 of Intensive. Advanced students will take place in a Company Repertoire week the final week of the Intensive with company Pointe Works.

Train with the renowned Sofiane Sylve in the Advanced Workshop August 3-7.

Second session of the Teen Intensive takes place August 10-12.

Westside welcomed two amazing guest teachers during the first session of our summer intensive, Patricia Barker and Unity Phelan.

What a wonderful opportunity for students to work with ballet legend Patricia Barker former principal dancer at Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Unity Phelan who is currently a principal dancer with New York City Ballet and was in town on tour with NYCB.

Now into our second session of the intensive we can’t wait to see all the continued hard work and growth of the students! It’s not too late to sign up for session three which includes a Company Repertoire Week with POINTEWORKS and the Advanced Workshop with Sofiane Sylve (August 3rd-7th.)

2026’s Spring Gala and Showcase featured an all new Grand Défilé staged by Martine Harley to John Philip Sousa’s The Stars and Stripes Forever to celebrate the United States’ Semiquincentennial Anniversary.
