Sound Director/Designer β PCPA- Pacific Conservatory Theatre is accepting applications for a full-time Sound Director/Designer. PCPA a professional conservatory theatre of Allan Hancock College. The Sound Director is responsible for the overall operation of the sound department. This position will design sound and all related effects for assigned productions. They will work with the Production Manager to provide support for guests and other staff sound designers. The Sound Director is responsible for teaching sound and sound technology to conservatory technical theater students and interns as assigned by the Technical Theatre Program Coordinator. An example of responsibilities will include: engineering all orchestra recording sessions, manages purchasing and maintenance of sound equipment, supervises the staff Sound Engineer, may serve as the front-of-house engineer for select performances. Qualified applicants will have a strong commitment to the artistry of theatrical Sound Design. Additional qualifications include proficiency in Yamaha CL series consoles, Dante Network Protocols, Pro Tools, QLab, Clear-Com, and Wireless Workbench. Experience in sound recording, engineering, editing, and production. Working knowledge of sound and electricity as they relate to the theatrical production process.
