Several members of the Harmonizers went to Albuquerque today to attend the spring show presented by our friends the New Mexichords. The chorus sounded great, the local quartets sounded really good, especially Delta Quadrant (OMG the lead's post in the tag!), and guest quartet, Moving Parts, super awesome. Kudos to everyone involved.

This morning many of the Harmonizers, along with several of our friends from the Los Alamos chorus, attended the memorial service honoring our dear friend Peter Frederick. In 1983, Peter was one of the charter members of the Harmonizers, singing lead with the chorus for almost 30 years until his eyesight failed. Peter was also a regular member of the Harmonizers' social group, the Friday Lunch Bunch, attending regularly (thanks to rides from his friends and caregivers) until his health took a bad turn last summer. We helped to celebrate Peter's life on what would have been his 101st birthday, singing The Irish Blessing and Go Rest High on That Mountain in his memory. Happy trails, dear friend.

We are excited to finally announce a little side project of the Harmonizers.... ta da....

In early March, a quartet consisting of Marguerite (tenor), Anne (lead), Will (baritone), and Mark (bass) went to a small studio in the hills northwest of Santa Fe. There we recorded the out-tro (called the tag in barbershop singing) for a new jingle promoting the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society. The new jingle is finally being played on several radio stations in the Santa Fe area. So keep your ears open for this on your home or car radio or even online. (BTW Anne wrote the tag and Cora, our assistant music director, transcribed the notes for the other quartet members.)

Here is a brief video from our guest night on April 13th. We were very happy to have 10 guests! We certainly hope that at least some of them will keep singing with us. Right now we have 37 people listed as members though probably 25 come regularly. Some of our members live in even warmer climates in the winter.

Yes indeed! And as we say in the barbershop world, barbershoppers are family! Come and meet our local family on Monday, April 13th, and see how barbershop music is made. See our previous post for more information.

~ "The experience of singing together is a bonding mechanism. Being part of a chorus has a profound effect on people. We feel connected to others, like threads in a beautiful tapestry. People suddenly look around and see other humans, just like them, teary-eyed and vulnerable. It is a truly touching event to experience and witness." ~ Mira Awad - singer, songwriter, actress (https://www.miraawad.co/about)

Congratulations to the Harmonizers quartets who delivered singing Valentine's starting on February 12th and running through February 14th. Among them they delivered 25 Singing Valentines across the Santa Fe area. (If you missed out this year, don't worry! We do this every year.) Let's hear it for:

* Cradle of Love
* Good Chemistry
* Second Edition

And thanks to our friend Joe from the Lasses and Lads of Enchantment-LALOE who came down to Santa Fe on Saturday to substitute for Good Chemistry's baritone, who has the flu.
