A Note to the Collector -- To the person who'll someday hang one of my paintings:

You asked if I've ever destroyed a piece. The honest answer is almost. And I want you to know why that matters to you.

When you bring a painting home, you're not just buying color on canvas.

You're bringing home every risk I took to get it there. Every time I refused to play it safe. Every question I asked when it would've been easier to call it finished.

Playing it safe always leaves a piece flat, and you deserve more than flat.

So I push until it's almost too far, because that's where the energy lives.

That's the part you'll feel standing in front of it, even if you can't name it.

This is for the collector who knows that peace isn't found. It's practiced.

We spend so much of our lives doing.

"The Quiet Work of Being" is about the other part, the morning coffee before the day begins, the deep exhale, the quiet moment when you remember you're enough just as you are.

Every mark on this canvas was made by hand, slowly and intentionally, as a reminder that being present is a practice worth returning to.

Event Details & Schedule
• Benefit Event: Friday, October 30, 2026, 5:30–9:15 PM CT.

• Location: Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, 724 South 12th Street, Omaha, NE.

• Admission: $150 per ticket, which includes access to the indoor/outdoor tented block party featuring open bars, small bites, and music.

• Exhibition Dates: October 9–30, 2026 (Free admission to view the exhibition ahead of the auction).

• Opening Reception: Friday, October 9, 2026, 7:00–9:00 PM CT (Member and Artist Preview from 6:00–7:00 PM CT).
Art Purchases & Bidding

• Buy It Now: Available from October 5 through October 30, 2026, at 150% of the retail price.

• Mobile Bidding: Starts on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 70% of the retail price.

• Participating Artists: Over 180 local, regional, and national artists (spanning letters A through Z, including Jun Kaneko, Watie White, Mary Zicafoose, and Beverly Todd.

• Proceeds: Support participating artists (who receive up to a 50% commission) and fund Bemis Center’s free year-round exhibitions, educational public programs, LOW END performances, and international residency programs. Tickets can be purchased or bidding accessed via GiveSmart.
