Santa Fe Indian Market postponed until 2021
By Danielle Prokop [email protected] Updated 6 min ago

The Santa Fe Indian Market will be postponed until 2021 because of the COVID-19 crisis, Randy Randall, executive director of Tourism Santa Fe, said Saturday.

In previous years, the event has brought as many as 120,000 visitors to Santa Fe.

Southwestern Association for Indian Arts, which organizes the event, "is still hoping to do a mini-market during the time of the festival, if in fact normalcy has returned,” Randall said.

The event will mark its centennial year in 2021.

Outstanding article on an artist I knew well, one whose art I have carried for almost 40 years, truly the greatest Native American painter of the 20th Century, killed in a car wreck at 32, here in Santa Fe. This article is primarily a book review, but such a great treatment I want to share it with you..

In the contemporary work being produced at the Institute of American Indian Arts, where Cannon made his mark, his influence can still be seen nearly 40 years after his death.

Where does the media get the idea that Las Vegas was the largest mass shooting in American History? They said the same thing about the Orlando shootings....but this is the real truth: it was the Wounded Knee massacre in 1890. Most of those killed were Native Women and children, but, oh wait ~~~~~maybe CNN and MSNBC and mainstream American historians don't consider them as people?!

I was so privileged on Sunday night to hear a performance of Shostakovich's 5th Symphony in the Lensic Theater by the Santa Fe Symphony. It was exhilarating and so beautiful as to bring tears of joy. The whole history of Russia in the 20th Century seems to waft through this masterpiece, the tragedies, the exhilaration, the boot of the psychotic murderous head of state (Stalin) for whom, in a way, this piece was written, in order to regain approval for Shostakovich after the dismal reception to his Lady Macbeth a few months earlier. This is Leonard Bernstein's version, and I hope a small inkling of the joy I felt comes through to you, after this approximately 50 minute performance.

For the past twenty years, I have been telling people about the neurotoxic and carcinogenic effects of aspartame, but still it remains on the market, until the FDA rescinds the approval for Aspartame. In the meantime, you could ask your US Senator to forward your concerns to the FDA Commissioner, and to make it an issue if and when the next FDA Commissioner's Senate approval comes before the United States Senate (right now, there is no FDA commissioner, since Dr. Margaret Hamburg resigned). We even had bills in the New Mexico and the Hawaii State
Senates to ban aspartame in those two states, but they were overwhelmed by the scourge and curse of Legislatures everywhere, THE CORPORATE LOBBYISTS from Ajinomoto and other front lobbying groups for the aspartame industry.

It remains fairly common for people to believe they are choosing the ‘healthier’ option when reaching for a diet soda instead of the regular one, but research has been surfacing over the past few years which suggests consuming artificial sweeteners might not be the best idea either. Of course, this…

Bush said Trump's plan to ban Muslims from coming to the U.S. is not serious.

What is significant here is that by sentencing her to 30 days in jail, the Honorable Judge Glenn Ellington went beyond what the Attorney General wanted (no jail time). This restores a lot of my faith in the Judiciary in New Mexico. I have always respected Judge Ellington in the Jurisprudential sense. The accompanying conditions are quite serious and not to be dismissed, and will not only do society some good, but a lot of good in New Mexico in the context of curtailing predatory gambling.

Dianna Duran will spend just thirty days in jail if she is able to abide by terms of release set down by Judge Glenn Ellington on Monday for six crimes she pleaded guilty to earlier this year. The total sentence is seven and a half years with all but 30 days suspended. The former Secretary […]
