This year's theme, Coping with Chaos, invited artists to explore how their work responds to the current moment. The Arts Commission received a record-breaking 80 proposals, encompassing an astonishing range of creativity and ingenuity.

We are proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Santa Fe Mayor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts, recognizing eight individuals and organizations whose creativity, leadership, generosity, and innovation continue to shape Santa Fe as one of the world’s great arts cities.

These annual awards celebrate artists, educators, organizations, innovators, and arts leaders whose work has profound cultural impact, strengthens community ties, carries forward heritage, inspires creativity, and propels Santa Fe’s identity as a UNESCO Creative City and one of the most artistic cities in the world.

Honorees will be celebrated at the annual awards ceremony, which is free, all ages, and open to the public, on Tuesday, September 29, 5:30-8:00 pm at the Scottish Rite Center, 463 Paseo de Peralta, Santa Fe.

BTS sneak peek: Artists and staff have been hard at work installing for our next show, opening TOMORROW, Thursday, July 16. This exhibit showcases TWO recipients of our 2025-26 Art is the Solution grants for artists, carrying out this cycle’s theme of Cultural Futures.

Here’s a glimpse of Ron Mier and Sabrina installing woven textiles and prints in NEW TRADITIONS/WEAVING REIMAGINED, and Ehren Kee Natay preparing to mount ECHOES IN MOSAIC, a collaborative multigenerational project with Natay, Kiksuyapi Collective, Indigenous youth and Bill Coriz.

Come see the full show and congratulate the artists when it opens July 16, 5:30-7:30 at the Community Gallery! It’s a beauty.

Join us for the opening reception of New Traditions/ Weaving Reimagined by Ron Mier, an Art is the Solution recipient! This new exhibition explores and honors generational traditions, interwoven with paper and printmaking processes to form an unexpected fusion of techniques. The reception is FREE, and all are welcome to attend.
