The retreat in Bali last year was full of unforgettable surf sessions and deep connection. Amidst all the incredible moments, one quiet instant stood out when I was diving beneath and through the pure, clean energy of a wave. That feeling—the quiet clarity, the suspended weightlessness, and the raw power of the water rushing overhead—stayed with me long after I came home. It inspired me to revisit a subject I first explored back in 2019: capturing the grace of a surfer duck diving.

I’ve named her Celeste - a celestial connection - to remind me of our link to the cosmos and the higher realms. These are the complementary colors at first light, for those few seconds when the sun peeks out while the sky is in its transitional purple hue.

Celeste captures the energy of the stars and the vast, peaceful sky… the “celestial” part of us that is our eternal soul… perhaps the part that is connected to Source while we are in our Earthly bodies.

Big mahalos to V E S S O for this shred stick, helping me build courage to face some bigger waves, and art by yukiko for the incredible spray work, capturing my vision of the heavenly sky perfectly!! And Hawaiian South Shore Surf Shop for the perfect, lilac-colored kick pad.

“Hope” - when the client commissioned me for a plumeria artwork, I was inspired to revisit the koko crater botanical garden - a place we love to go every May. The scent, touch, views.. such beauty on this island 🌸
