In memory of my friend Jack Wilgus, who died on Friday. Jack, together with his wife Beverly, was an important member of the global camera obscura community. Their venerable website, brightbytes.com, has introduced many people to the wonders of the camera obscura. Jack’s knowledge of photography and photographers was prodigious, and his posts here on Facebook about photographic history were always fascinating and informative. Thank you, Jack, for your contributions to the world of camera obscuras, and to the design and operation of my instrument. We’ll miss you.
