Yesterday, I completed my 17th headdress this year. I started it on the anniversary of my husband's death. I call it: Yendor's Demon. Rodney was attracted to South American faces in art. When I found the object I used in this piece, it reminded me of him. Rodney originally was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He had years of gruelling treatments, and we actually thought he had beat the odds and was cancer free for nearly 8 years. But all along, he had a demon in his brain — tumors, slowly feeding off him — without him having any clue. When the demon finally showed his ugly head, the damage was done. The demon cut his life short. Rodney often liked to use his name backwards — thus, the name Yendor's Demon.

At the beginning of this year, I started a 1 year study of making h**p headdresses. Yesterday, I completed my 17th piece, Yendor's Demon. Take a look at what I have done so far this year.

It has been so long since I have been here, I almost forgot I had this page. This is a costume I created and built recently. I have a thing about numbers, and this project had some magic there: Eleven is my favorite number. Without planning ahead, the coat was made of 11 pieces of woven cloth. It was completed on the first day of Spring 2020. The boots were completed on Leap Day. The outfit was completed on April Fool's Day. The sceptor was created on my late husband and I's wedding anniversary. I haven't finished the earrings yet, because of the Corona Virus (craft store closed), but when they are finished, the costume will have 11 parts.
1.Coat. 2. Dress. 3.Hat. 4.Boots. 5.Necklace. 6.Mask. 7.Scarf. 8.Bracelet. 9.Sceptor. 10.Pants. 11.Earrings (eventually).
I have put together a visual journey of how the costume was created and came to be.
The name of this costume is called 'Touch of Red'. The reasons for such I have discussed on my home page. I sure hope on Halloween, this epidemic will be over.

I had a friend who surprised me when she said she no longer wanted to be friends. She held to this opinion for some time until I actually believed her. She loves elephants. In my last final attempt to repair our friendship, I made her this key ring featuring an agate elephant. I sent it to her - she didn't send it back. I hope she liked it. I included the left and right side images.

I have been real busy with school and getting a really big project off the ground that I haven't made any time to post (kinda stupid). My hands have been real busy with knotting lately. Here are a few recent examples:

I have just completed several projects I still need to take pictures of. I will do this soon. I have been overwhelmed of late and they are threatening to get rid of my page which I will post new pictures on it soon.

I like to make lit sculptures or art lamps; whatever you like to call them. Some time ago, I started one of these sculptures and I got stuck. The lamp remained unfinished for about 10 or more years. Recently, I found my way to getting unstuck on this piece and have finally completed it. I call this piece 'The Northern Star'. I am so glad to found a solution. I never know when the answer will present itself. It seems I have many unfinished pieces and it is always satisfying to reduce my artistic dilemmas.
