A classic base for a live edge walnut top. This table top went to San Francisco years ago before ending up in Pacific Grove, where the owners needed a new base for it. All the wood comes from locally salvaged trees, offsetting demand for exotics and mono-cropped tree plantations.

It’s World Environment Day, and I’d like to present to you the Redwood Tree. I snapped these photos in early 2021 after the CZU fire, and again last week. Redwood trees have a very low mortality rate from fire, and store carbon deep within to sprout new offshoots so they may photosynthesize again quickly after losing their foliage. I’ve seen far more catastrophic damage in other areas where the trees lost all their leaves and have resprouted, but here’s some photos of less severe damage on Jameson Creek Road, in Boulder Creek.

Here’s a big one. Thanks to for helping and to for supplying such amazing walnut. This walnut slab table comes in at 11’ 4” long and 42” average width. The copper tie inlays add a little flare but the curly grain really steals the show.

Here are some finished shots of the walnut table from Seaside. Lots of people have come in to visit regarding bikes on the other side of the shop space and voiced their love for it. You’d have to be crazy not to love this figured claro walnut.
