Our friends over at Granite Construction repaved the entire track of the historic Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca and we were fortunate enough to document the process!

We are still blown away by this story. A hospital on the verge of bankruptcy was saved by passing state legislation in 19 days! Plus, they raised an insane amount of money in such a short amount of time in order to buy the hospital.

A huge thank you to all the people we interviewed for this video: Carlos Palacios, John Laird, Mimi Hall, MPH, Dorie Rose Inda, and Steven Salyer. Not only did they give us the interviews we needed to create such a heartfelt video - these individuals gave so much to protect healthcare for some of the most vulnerable people in Santa Cruz County.

With that being said, we would also like to acknowledge the organizations involved in this project: the Community Health Trust of Pajaro Valley, Salud Para La Gente, the City of Watsonville - City Gov't, and the County of Santa Cruz.

One of the best reasons to make award videos will always be the people you meet. Keisha Browder may have one of the best lines about Chris Murphy in the entire video. When she gave us the mascot line, there was no question that it was going to stay in the final cut.

Once again, big thanks to Fred Keeley, Faris Sabbah and Keisha Browder for giving their time to multiple award videos.

Chris Murphy gave us a ton of great sound bites to work with, and it was not easy boiling down everything he has accomplished into the short amount of time he appears on screen. Go Santa Cruz Warriors!!!

Finally, shout out to Hilary Bryant! Hilary was one of the original people we interviewed for these award videos back in 2013.

Small businesses are a lot of fun to film, especially in Santa Cruz. There’s just something about the small business in this community that feels more unique and special than other communities.

Thanks to all involved to share their insights and testimonials about all the great things Ken Doctor started with Lookout Santa Cruz.

This was our first time filming Dr. Faris Sabbah. Not only was he great on camera, but the team at the Santa Cruz County Office of Education really came through with some excellent video of United Way of Santa Cruz County in action.

Speaking of United Way, this was also our first time interviewing Keisha Browder and she totally rocked her interview session for 3 different award winners!

Amy Ivey- always a gem. Congratulations again on your well deserved promotion at Bay Federal Credit Union. And thanks for the free bubbly at the gala 🙂

Finally, Mayor Fred Keeley gave us a perfect opening line to launch into this video. After all, those opening hooks can make or break a video.

It brings us a tremendous amount of joy to say that after 3 ½ years, we had the opportunity to honor those who represent the very idea of what it means to be a pillar of the community.

This year marks the 8th time that we produced award videos for the annual Santa Cruz County Chamber of Commerce Gala. Since the first year that Lucid launched (10 years ago in fact) this event has become its own tradition.
