My 35f husband 38m gets off of work at 8 PM. It takes about 15 minutes to get home. Every single night, he gets home between 830 and 9 o’clock. I’ve noticed that he goes to the grocery store almost every night and a lot of times it’s for things like lotion or dog food that we really don’t need because we will already have dog food at home. He also says that he likes to decompress in his car listening to music and playing a game on his phone for like 10 or 15 minutes. We have three kids, one of them is an infant and I could really use his help at home. Around this time, I’m trying to get the baby to bed, trying to get the older kids to shower and finish homework. And when he comes home this close to nine, he barely gets to see the kids and he doesn’t eat dinner with any of us because we have already eaten. I’ve offered a compromise, asking him if he could just do this decompression like a couple nights a week or if he could come straight home and decompress after the kids are in

Alright Reddit. Need a judgement here. So my (26M) sister Jane (28F) is getting married this winter. I’ve been invited as a solo guest. No plus one. So I called my sister and asked if it was correct. Because every other person I talked to had a plus one, including other single people. And she said it was because of her friend Zoe (27F). So backstory time I guess. Me and my sister aren’t the closest. But recently have been getting along better. About a year ago I was back home for my sisters engagement party. I noticed her friend Zoe and immediately was into her. I struck up a conversation and she seemed interested. So I asked my sister what the situation is. And she told me to stay away as I wasn’t her type. I asked what she meant and she told me to go ahead and see for myself. Ended up getting Zoe’s number and we texted for a a few weeks. Went out on two dates and that was pretty much it. She was very religious. She was a virgin and said she didn’t drink. She was kinda boring to be honest. Just wanted to just

Both me (37F) and my husband (40M) work from home. He works in the basement and I work in an upstairs converted office. I also have a daughter (17F) from a previous relationship who lives with us full time. Anyways, last Thursday, my Husband told me that his brother (36M), brother's wife (36F), and nephews (11and7M) would be coming over on what is now today. I immediately told him hell no, as today was my biggest annual meeting with one of our biggest clients, who is a local chain of retailers. I am the associate director the partnership between our companys and so I would have to help give a presentation. However, he kept telling me that they had just told him they were coming over. I finally relented but told him that the kids would need to be quiet and could not be upstairs. Anyways, today swings around and I go to get ready. My daughter locks her room so that the kids can't get in. Inside, she has a gaming setup worth over $2000 of gifts and stuff she has saved up from waitresses. I also locked my doors after I got my lunch. At about 1, they

As the title suggests my literal older brother had an affair with my ex-fiancée (engaged) and married her. Now my older brother was married at the time (arranged marriage) but I was in love and was with my ex-fiancée for 2 years approx., engaged 5 months. My SIL caught them and hell broke loose, they already had a child too, for over a year brother was just banished from our family (he married at that time). But right after my dad fell ill and died, mom and elder sister reconcile with him. They attended the naming ceremony of his new child, and also remarried them with proper ceremony. I was totally against it, I was and am still not over this, I consider this relationship breaker and consider supporting that affair as an act of betrayal. I told this to my mom and sis that our relationship would deteriorate. Later they went ahead with their support to my brother I didn't create any drama, even talked with my brother, didn't accept his apologies though, but attended his re-marriage and naming ceremony. Left the city in a month and never returned to that home for about 6 years now. I was

Throwaway due to several family members browsing reddit. I never had the best family life, although I wouldn't say It was bad. Far from it, I am rather happy. My parents divorced when I was young, leaving me (24M), and my younger biological brother (21M) split between my parents, who did their best to raise us. But during my brother's (who I will call J) high school years, he met a girl who changed all that. This girl, who I will name D, is a borderline sociopath who loves to see others suffer. Slowly, she dissolved all the friendships J had built up over his life, even with his three best friends. After J left for college (the college D *chose* for him so they could go together), he became such an awful person. The only times he would come home was to ask my mother for a favor or for money, and being the loving mother she is, she would oblige. J then started to become colder to her, not talking to her when she didn't have enough money to give him, refusing smaller gifts and snacks that she would put in care packages, and minor things like that.

I don’t know a better title to use but here’s what’s going on. My fiancé never remembers anything unless it’s something he’s looking forward too a ton. I honestly think he chooses not to remember the rest, because he relies on me to do it for him. I have to remind him at least 10 times for everything, birthdays, dinner date, plans, holidays, vacations. And if I don’t remind him he says stuff like well it’s your fault i forgot, you didn’t remind me. It’s now gotten to the point where even when i am reminding him he still try’s to say that i never did. We have had many discussions that I shouldn’t have to constantly do this, while I’m also trying to keep my things straight. I told him that it causes me a lot of stress and that I wasn’t going to do it anymore. I don’t think he took me seriously. So here’s where the issue came up. My birthday is coming up in a few days and I asked my family to not remind him that my birthday is almost here. My mom is saying that I’m setting my fiancé up for failure and that

Hi, my wife (w34) and I (h42) have been married for 12 years. We have 3 kids (6, 8 and 10) She married me young (22). She never really had a job and did not do well in school and did not attend university. These things don’t really bother me. I have been a work-from-home dad since day one. Very flexible schedule. I wake up early, make bfast for the kids (wife sleeps in), would send them to school most of the time, send them to sports practice, cook dinner somethings (otherwise it's takeout as my wife doesn’t like to cook). I also hired a maid who takes care of the daily cleaning, laundry, ironing, etc but my wife does have mild OCD and cleans it again (mopping and vacuuming) daily despite us trying to tell her not to. We live in an upper-middle-class neighborhood, we make decent money but we could save more. Especially with the kids growing and we are not getting any younger. I say “we” as we are a family but I am really the sole earner in 12yrs. Despite my wife’s lack of say education and work experience, over the last 12years, I (and her

I 33M been with my fiancee 26F for over two years, we recently got engaged, I saved up for the engagement ring that costs 8 thousand dollars, I have given up a lot of things that needed buying/car needed repair/I even stopped spending money eating out and limited my time with my friends, skipped trips and weekends getaways, and still got rent to pay on top of it all. Last week, my fiancee called me and she was freaking out, she told me that she lost her engagement ring while she was out shopping with her sisters, I tried to get her to calm down and she wanted me to come over to her mom's as fast as I can to discuss what happened. I arrived at her mom's place, her mom was sitting while my fiancee explained how she lost her ring and how pi**ed off she was but never said nor implied that it was her fault and tried to put the blame elsewhere, I told her no problem that I will get her a new one soon once I've saved up for it, she gave me a look, she didn't seem to take me seriously, started complaining

I am Canadian and the common law status here is only used for insurance and tax purposes. It does NOT give the common law "spouse" any rights at all upon break up or death. This is why it is important that when people enter into a long term relationship without marriage that they have power of attorney for both financial and medical drawn up as well as advance medical directives in case of illness or accident. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer this is something I talked with my doctor about at length as my husband and I were not married at the time. At that point we had been together 9 yrs and had 2 kids and owned a house together and had been living together since the first 6 months of our relationship. Despite all of this if I had of ended up being incapacitated my parents had the legal right to step in and take over and make decisions both medically and financially. They could even go so far as to have my husband banned from my hospital room. One of the 1st things we did was to close his bank account and add his name
