Adelfos Ensemble

Adelfos Ensemble Our joy is exploring the wide world of choral literature. Temmo Korisheli took over direction of the group from Dr. Michael Eglin in 2008.

Our goal is to offer the best choral performances to our audiences, focusing especially classical a-cappella music. The Adelfos Ensemble exists to explore the wide world of choral literature and, as the Santa Barbara News-Press observed, to “move right and left of center in the choral tradition.” The ensemble was founded in 2004 as a men’s a-cappella ensemble and pursued that path until 2010, when

it became a mixed voice choral ensemble. Our goal is to offer the best of a-cappella and other choral-based music to audiences in the Santa Barbara area through live performances and recordings. The group programs a broad repertoire of music spanning more than a millennium, from ancient chant and Renaissance motets to folksong arrangements and contemporary works. www.adelfosensemble.org

Join us for our 2025 holiday concert, Hodie Christus Natus Est, on Saturday, December 6th, 3:00 pm at St. Anthony’s Chapel (2300 Garden Street, Santa Barbara 93101).
We will present choral works from the High Renaissance, featuring especially the sublime works of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, in honor of the 500th anniversary of his birth in the Papal States (Italy). We are thrilled to be performing this repertoire in St. Anthony’s Chapel, whose ambience and acoustics are perfectly suited to it.

Online ticket sales are available at https://adelfosensemble.org/tickets. Of course, there are always plenty of tickets available at the door, as well. We look forward to sharing our music with you on December 6th!

This past weekend, 14 Adelfos singers joined the 200-strong chorus for the Santa Barbara Symphony's season-opening concerts, featuring Beethoven's monumental 9th Symphony and Aaron Copland's "The Promise of Living" (from his opera The Tender Land) . We had a wonderful time, and were delighted to contribute this major community event!
(As you can see, our pre-concert ritual continues unabated... 😄 )
