What do POKER and CYBERSECURITY have in common? 🤔

I enjoy the challenge of exploring how poker connects to industries that seem completely unrelated — which I had the opportunity to do this week as keynote speaker at Secure360's “Adapting to Evolving Threats” conference.

My take? Both high-stakes poker and the security space require facing uncertainty and making the best possible decision BEFORE having all the information... while knowing your opponent is actively trying to DECEIVE YOU.

👆 That last part is the kicker that flips the decision-making framework entirely!

One thing 20 years of winning and losing in competitive poker has taught me:

The goal is not to perfectly *predict* the future - or your opponent's every move - it's to become *adaptable* enough to respond intelligently when the unexpected happens.

When I wrap a poker event and the exhausted hits, after nonstop days of balancing gameplay with content producing & media coverage (creating, editing, producing, posting, managing socials - and this time around, training a newb)…

In that exact moment I stop and whisper, ‘Thank You’.

For continued opportunity.
For the invitation to travel.
For the chance to mentally compete & challenge myself.
For an ability to create, invest & be productive, even to the point of being drained.

… for the gift it is to FEEL tired after giving my utmost to my work and to the game of poker 🙏🏽

That girl who knew you when… 👆🏽 27 years of friendship — what a beautiful thing!

Women are complex creatures. Growing in the same direction isn’t natural. Overcoming insecurities side-by-side is hard. Turning away from jealousy, to make room for each other’s success, is a choice.

Loving and reliving the old versions of you, while adapting and staying open to transformation and life’s curveballs, is how we’ve made it this far.
