be kind
the creative process is nurtured by love. It's that simple.
Loving yourself enough to follow your impulse and joy.
Loving yourself enough to weather the storms of insecurity, doubt and seeming defeat.
one step at a time, allowing the muse to carry your through the dark night of the soul to the little patch of flowers in your heart.
With songs, with art, with life, how many times do you find yourself just hating what you do, hating yourself, ashamed that it's not perfect, downright miserable. We spend so much of our life (often unconsciously) sabotaging our self by comparing, judging, basically torturing ourselves. We all do it. Don't force the issue. Don't try to make anything happen.
Stop.
Notice.
Pick up the pieces.
Begin again.
Get out and explore the great unknown.
Whatever you do, where ever you are, the world is waiting for you and your unique expression. Not because you have to, or have any obligation to preform, to shine or impress;
but because your spirit calls you forth.
Give yourself freedom. Freedom to write the world's crappiest song, paint a downright horrible picture, write a seemingly ridiculous story or poem- whatever calls to you.
go ahead, do it.
Most of all, be kind to yourself.
