On the eve of the Winter Solstice, I find myself trying to make sense of the darkness around us. Here we are still dealing with a global pandemic and the negativity of society both in the news and social media. Yet despite this stark reality there are still pockets of positivity and creativity…of compassion and love… and most important, a sense of hope that glows like blue light. Last year in the midst of the winter of the pandemic my artistic partner in crime , Sio Tepper, and I came up with an idea for a project that we called the LAByrinth Project SB. Teaming up with the multi-talented Josh Humphrey, we invited a select group of talented local artists, to muse on the world we were and still are living in. I know some of you have already seen the film, but if you have not, then this is a perfect time. Here is the website for the project. En Paz y Luz…JV

2020 was a year for the ages. A wild roller coaster of a ride that is still not over even though many of us would like to get off. Happy Mother's Day! In honor of mothers, our film tells the story of Inanna, one of the earliest goddesses of fertility and procreation. Her descent into the labyrinth mirrors our own descent into darkness in 2020. But as always, there is hope. This collaborative work is made by Santa Barbara artists for our community. Thanks to all the artists who worked with us to make this happen. Please check out our website.
