I was standing in the wet sand looking up towards the hill and life guard shack when this subject caught my eye. These lifeguard structures are striking from an artistic perspective being such a light shape that reflects colors and stands out from the landscape, but they also have physical meaning (ie a lifeguard can save oneā€™s life), and philosophical and emotional meaningā€¦like when someone comes into your life and breathes love into your heart again or when you survived a tragedy or trauma and now have a life to continue to live and love and create (a life and love for yourself and with someone, art, music, yoga, kindness, sandā€¦). All of this went through my mind, and more, when I knew I wanted to paint this.
