While I was in my parents' hometown, Puente de Ixtla, Morelos, I really got into embroidery. I remember seeing my grandma as a kid always embroidering napkins. In her old age wheelchair bound and with memory loss, all she does is embroider. It's muscle memory at this point. We may not have the best relationship and understand each other fully, but at least we have embroidery to bring us together.
I became obsessed with sunsets because, to me, they inspire hope. At a time when there is an ongoing genocide in Palestine and throughout the world, we all need a little hope.
