Meet Ben Vargas, new principal tubist in Pacific Symphony ! Welcome, Ben!!

Recently appointed Principal Tuba of the Pacific Symphony, Benjamin Vargas has performed with the Toronto Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony, Hamilton Philharmonic, NYO USA, and NYO Canada. He received his Bachelor of Music from the Glenn Gould School studying with Sasha Johnson and a Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan with David Zerkel. As a soloist, he was the sole American semifinalist for the 2025 ITEC Tuba Artist Competition and a semifinalist at the 2024 Leonard Falcone International Tuba Artist Competition. Ben will begin performing in his new role in May of 2026.
