This 24”x30” painting on the left was inspired by the little sketchbook painting on the right.

I’ve tried many times to recreate my sketchbook paintings at a larger scale, and honestly, it rarely works the way I imagine. Not everything translates the same once it grows. Some things lose their magic.

I’ve realized paintings are a bit like living beings — once something is created, it exists as its own unique thing and can’t truly be repeated.

But my sketchbook paintings still serve an important role. They become little sparks… starting points for entirely new creations.
