Attending the NEW Voice Print spectrogram launch in Pittsburgh was such a joy to connect with other Estill Voice Trainers and see the new enhancements created by President Kim Steinhauer & team and built by software/app developer Tom Young. ‘What iS Voice Print?’ you may ask. Voice Print is a spectrogram that translates vocal sounds into visual displays for analysis and confirmation of techniques for singers, speakers, actors, and voice therapists/ patients rehabilitating the voice! It’s fun to use and is a great biofeedback tool for students & clients who would like an additional means of assessment! After the rollout presentation & demos, which included several special guest speakers, we enjoyed karaoke and treats at Howl at The Moon. Congrats to all the contributors on Voice Print’s rollout!! 🎉🎉

15-yr old Kara playing in a regional orchestra w a couple fellow honors orchestra pals who I was also in a gigging string quartet with after playing in my older sister’s gigging quartet when I was in middle school— all thanks to our amazing orchestra director, Mrs. Hamilton, who just sent me these pics all these years later. 🥰🙏 I’ve been at it for a hot minute. Hehe My parents really encouraged music, so I have memories of singing and playing hand percussion instruments in performances for others from age four. Formal instrument study soon followed. I loved it. It never felt like a chore. I was taught early on that to get better, I had to play more, and music is just one of the main things I always loved- it has always felt creative & peaceful to me. Along with music, school plays, making my own films, being outdoors, and spending time with animals have just ways been my ‘things.’ Safe to say I’m the same human in middle age. ✅ I get a lot of inquiries asking how it’s possible I do (and excel at) all I do. Well, when it’s been one’s whole life, skills just grow with love. I didn’t watch tv much, loved my time alone creating, playing music, and spending time in nature quietly. It gave my brain room to breathe and generate ideas. Ideas come when we give ourselves space to let our brains meander. There’s a whole neuroscience behind it, too, that I won’t get into here, but the bottom line is that humans need space and quiet to let the brain process and naturally get into flow state.// 2nd pic features aforementioned quartet fundraising for our orchestra by wrapping holiday gifts at a book store! By gollyyy we in The Arts have been defending and advocating for our field since we were young. A significant portion of discussions in Music Education collegiate training includes how to advocate to keep Performing Arts funded and in existence in the schools. For a country that is obsessed with celebrities & new releases in pro film & music, there is still such a GIANT gap to bridge in terms of funding its foundations in schools & communities.

I do love a good car. ‘72 El Camino. A morning that marked a great turning point (no pun intended) for a loved one who just went through a really crazy health bonanza. I went out to help for a month & this drive was a really special time together feeling the wind blowing through the car, through our hair; the hot dry temps felt like a really welcome sauna with legs in shorts nearly sticking to the original leather seats. It was a drive nodding the freedom of the open road; the warm yellow sun a hopeful omen of more sage, open roads, and ‘good ol’ days’ to come. Walking that line teetering on the great beyond… well, - too much of a scare. I love you, Man. And I love our adventures. Here’s to hopefully many many more. 🍻✨✨ That engine tho 😍

I’m so happy to announce I have attained my full Estill Master Trainer (EMT) Certification through ! In my five years of training I have learned so much about voice anatomy, function, and voice techniques which apply to ALL genres and styles of singing, speaking accents, voice over, character voices, acting, public speaking, healthful projection & so much more! I deeply love sharing this knowledge with my students and clients as well as applying the knowledge to my own performing. ❤️❤️ Thank you to all my EMCI mentors/ coaches, to all of the wonderful students I student taught around the world, and to my family and friends for being patient with all my study time! To the Estill Voice international community~ I look forward to seeing you all at more international conferences & continuing ed events!🎤🗣️🌟💫💫

A couple more pics from our Performing Arts studio Social at the zoo assisted by our fab studio pal/zoo volunteer who offered to give us behind the scenes info on the animals! :) This group represented only 13% of our studio members as many are scattered around the US and abroad, and many locals were on vacation, we had a fun day of friendship & play!

When in Rome… or somewhere.. in Utah. Sometimes you gotta bring the party. I’m usually willing to be the martyr for the joy of others. In this case, my return happy juju is feeding hospital duckies followed by them napping next to me. 🦆💓 ;)
