📣Call for Artists: Memento Mori Exhibition

As October approaches, the Art House invites artists to explore the theme of "Memento Mori" a reminder of the inevitability of death, used throughout history as a catalyst to celebrate the life we have.

Rooted in classical antiquity and Christianity, the motif is often symbolized by the skull but for this year’s exhibition, we’re seeking fresh, innovative interpretations of the concept.

We are so excited to share that more than 110 people gathered for the SCAC 2026 Annual Meeting from 4:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Hollerbach’s German Restaurant in Sanford. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible work being done by arts, cultural, educational, and community organizations throughout Seminole County.

And we had something BIG to celebrate!

At the 2026 Seminole Cultural Arts Grant Awards Ceremony, SCAC awarded a total of $54,256.06 in grants to 19 local organizations. That’s DOUBLE the amount of grant funding awarded in 2025 and represents the single largest amount of money awarded by SCAC through its grant program in its 32-year history!

Even more exciting, more than half of this year’s grant recipients are receiving SCAC funding for the first time. We’re thrilled to welcome these new organizations into the SCAC family and look forward to seeing how these funds help bring their programs, projects, and ideas to life.

We’re incredibly proud to invest in the people and organizations that make Seminole County such a vibrant place to live, learn, create, and connect. These grants support arts and cultural programming, education, community engagement, and opportunities that enrich the lives of residents throughout our county. SCAC's grant programs are funded in part by private/public partnerships and the State of Florida State of the Arts Specialty License Plate Program. We’ve got one box filled, and many more to go!

SCAC’s Color the Classroom 2026 Art School Supply Drive is underway, and we need your help to make sure Seminole County art teachers have the supplies their students need!

Art is an important part of a child’s education. It encourages creativity, builds confidence, provides an outlet for self-expression, and can support students’ mental and emotional well-being. For many students, the art classroom is a place where they can explore ideas, express themselves, and simply be themselves.

Unfortunately, art supplies can be some of the most expensive school supplies teachers need. Many teachers spend their own money throughout the school year to make sure their students have the materials they need, especially when a student or family can’t afford them. That’s where our community can make a difference.

SCAC is still collecting new art supplies for Seminole County art teachers through September 10, 2026. Every donation, big or small, can help put creative tools into the hands of students and take some of the financial burden off our teachers.

The photo shows just one box filled with supplies from donations we’ve received so far. It’s a great start, but we’ve got many more boxes to fill!

Please consider donating art supplies or making a contribution to help us reach our goal. With your support, we can help ensure that every student has the opportunity to create, explore, and express themselves through art.
