Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful women out there! Find delight in the small things! Let yourself say no to the things that don’t bring you joy and yes to more things that do. “Joy is not to be made a crumb.” —Mary Oliver

Fun quirky petals! I love the feeling of this one. Would make a great Mother’s Day gift! 12x12 inches $450
This is one of those ones that has been sitting half done for years now, and it came together in an afternoon. Anyone have ideas for a title? This one is stumping me.

I love how this one turned out!

Lyrical Lone Peak 30x40 inches. The solitary, highlighted peak reads as a soloist in an orchestra of pattern. There’s a calm, contemplative mood, but the patterns introduce a playful, domestic-modern sensibility (textile or wallpaper echoes). It reads like a memory of a mountain rendered through quilts and songs.

Dinner question from my husband: “What are the three things you’re proudest of?”

My answers surprised me a little, because none of them are flashy or impressive on paper. But the odds were stacked against every single one of them:

1️⃣ A dyslexic kid who now reads for fun as an adult.
Years of tears, tutoring, advocacy, and tiny wins that felt invisible at the time… and now they pick up a book by choice. That still feels like a miracle.

2️⃣ The triathlon I finished absolutely last.
No podium. No glory. Just me, stubbornly putting one foot in front of the other while they were literally taking the course down. Finishing anyway changed how I see myself.

3️⃣ Hanging my art in public when I was a beginner.
It was… rough. So cringe when I look back. But I showed up, stood beside it, and let people see me as I was. That courage built the artist I am now way more than any “perfect” piece ever could.

None of these look spectacular from the outside. But to me, they’re proof that quiet, ordinary persistence can rewrite a story.

What would be on your proudest-three list?

This is a digital mockup—my painting isn’t actually installed there (yet!), but I love dreaming about how it could live in this space.

Color is funny. Sometimes the color I mix looks so ugly on my palette, but then looks amazing in context. And most of the time the color you’d typically think would be good looks way too brash and gaudy. So much of my pattern work is just color practice.
This is an old one that was way too neutral for me that I’m adding color to. I’ve got good vibes for it. It’ll be funky.
