Construction Monday -
A Beacon of Hope ✨

The chandelier at the Sandusky State Theatre is more than a beautiful piece of our history. It has become a beacon of hope.

When the storm tore through the theatre, somehow our chandelier survived with only one bent twig and one strand of fallen crystals.

Then, exposed to the elements, it endured rain and even a little snow. And somehow, it still lit up.

We carefully covered it, boxed it, and protected it while the auditorium was rebuilt around it.

Then every crystal was cleaned by hand, every bulb was changed, and this beautiful piece of our theatre was carefully hoisted back to where it belongs.

Home.

The chandelier has witnessed damage, scaffolding, dust, and uncertainty. Now it oversees the work being done to get us closer to reopening. Waiting.

Waiting for the day we will turn the lights back on.

When we look up and see it shining, we see hope shining back at us.

It survived. We survived. We will fill this theatre with light, music, laughter, and people again.

Until then, we'll keep looking up❤️

🏗️ Construction Monday!

This week we’re highlighting our new main concession stand! 🍿

We’re going from 2 points of sale to 6, making it much easier to grab your snacks and drinks before the show. The new concession area will also feature the same beautiful arches found throughout the historic portion of the theatre.

You’ll be able to access concessions from the lobby or the new Jackson Street entrance.

The old concession stand in the main hallway will become our coat check, helping eliminate the bottleneck that used to happen when entering the auditorium.

So much is taking shape, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back! ❤️

CONSTRUCTION MONDAY IS BACK! 🎭

Today, we’re looking at something incredibly special, our historic dressing room walls.

For decades, performers and crews left their marks with signatures, drawings, dates and show references. ❤️

Unfortunately, the walls had to be removed after being exposed to the elements following the storm. Many of you asked: Were we able to save the signatures?

YES!

We had a drone photograph and video the walls before they were removed, and we were also able to save portions of the walls that were not damaged.

The walls may be changing, but the memories remain.
