Do you even notice the rain?!

This is a fun hands-on workshop, introducing students to the tradition of batik–applying wax and dyes to fabric–to create your own piece of art.

During the day, we will learn about the history of this ancient practice, how to use a tjanting tools to apply wax to create a resist, how to use dyes to layer colors on the cotton fabric, and wax removal.

By the end of our time together, you will have made your very own batik painting to take home with you.

Come practice the ancient craft of blacksmithing in this four part series!

For each of the first three weeks, we will be completing a different project in order to learn the basics of heating steel and using the various tools to shape it.

The course will culminate in the fourth week, when the student will pursue a project of their own choice and design, with guidance from the instructor.

Join Paige Belfry, ISA Certified Arborist and fine pruning expert, in a discussion about pruning trees and shrubs. Students will leave the class with a firm understanding of pruning techniques, basic plant physiology, and how to assess their own plants to create a pruning strategy. Paige will discuss topics including safety, tree biology, the why's of pruning, timing, and specific strategies for pruning special forms.

Students should come prepared for a seated class and also should bring warm clothes/weather appropriate clothing for a field demonstration of pruning fruit trees.

Offering plant relational holistic herbalism by re-enchanting the Human experience through plant-to-human relationships.

In this class, Sandi will walk you through Pine Street Woods to find medicine in season. Discover introductory herbal terminology, plant identification, harvesting, plant signature of medicinal qualities and processing to begin making your own medicine to take home. You will also learn the basic materials needed for home hearth herbalism.

Medicine for this class will depend on the season for April, but may include Horsetail, Oregon Grape flower, or other.

Take home materials will include: your medicinal preparation, handout with resources and instructions and a handout with the Materia Medica for the plant.
Please bring a journal and pencil or pen.
