Sandisfield Arts Center A 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the mission to preserve our historic building and provide cultural and educational programs for our community.

Our programs include visual and performance arts, education, music, literature, nature and more. Located in our historic building, the Sandisfield Arts Center was originally a Baptist Church and then a Jewish Synagogue. Our Arts Center is now handicap accessible.

Join local poets for an afternoon of original verse inspired by the “Touch Me, Gently” group art show running from Saturday, September 19 through October 11.

These readings explore themes of tactile connection, comfort, and sensory experience. Discover how words can evoke touch, texture, and tenderness during challenging times.

Touch Me, Gently invites you to experience three-dimensional art through touch.

FREE Opening Reception Sept. 19. Show runs from Saturday, September 19 through October 11, open most weekends 11-3 or by appointment; contact [email protected].

This tactile exhibition features fabric arts, papier-mâché, and other touchable sculptures designed to soothe during turbulent times. Gently explore textures and forms with your hands, engaging with art in an intimate, calming, and multi-sensory way.

Artists include Bonnie Cordova, Susan Flex Gilbert, Christine Novak, Jaye Alison and participants in the two-session Papier-Mâché Workshop (Sept 5 and 12).

Open to ages 12 and up! Create vibrant, tactile sculptures in a fun, fast-paced papier-mâché workshop led by Christine Novak and Jaye Moscariello.

Two class sessions — September 5 and Saturday, September 12. 10 AM – 1 PM.

This hands-on session invites you to craft colorful 3D pieces for the “Touch Me, Gently” exhibition opening on Saturday, September 19, 1–4 PM.

Class size limited to 12; reserve your space with a free ticket at https://sandisfieldartscenter.org/event/papier-mache-workshop-session-1-of-2-free/.

Parents accompanying a child (12 and up) don’t need a ticket.

Wear an old T-shirt or something like a smock. Papier-mâché won’t ruin anything and it will wash out, but it can get messy.

Bring your imagination and leave with a unique, touchable creation.

🎶The Sandisfield Arts Center is pleased to host this Sandisfield Cultural Council-sponsored event. Admission is free. Donations are welcome.

Jon Waterman creates and performs programs that use music to inspire enthusiasm for and a desire to explore history. The shows consist of carefully researched original and traditional songs, stories and narratives and a slide show. Each program has a historical theme, and further themes are being developed.

Currently the themes are:

The Railroad through Song
Popular Music and Veterans

Naomi Oreskes is Henry Charles Lea Professor of the History of Science, Affiliated Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard. A world-renowned earth scientist, historian and public speaker, she is the author of the best-selling book, Merchants of Doubt (2010) and a leading voice on the role of science in society, the reality of anthropogenic climate change, and the role of disinformation in blocking climate action.

She’ll be speaking on her latest book, with Erik Conway, "The Big Myth: How American Business Taught Us to Loath Government and Love the Free Market".
