Deep Black

I’m drawn to things unknown,
it’s a strange calling to hear.
I look behind what’s been shown,
the underside is what many fear.

I enjoy the rebound of emotions felt,
when what was expected falls short.
I try to see what the ore will smelt
before I form my honest retort.

Many see black and cringe with what could be,
I look to darkness as solace.
Some find horror in bleak eternity,
for me a sweet and past known chorus.

Some think that such an image
could only entertain deep morosity
but for me this kind of visage
only amplifies my curiosity.

It also signifies deep hope from the depth,
with darkness bathed in moonlight.
Light from within, length and breadth,
strength from a cold dark winters night.

Although deep black may be seen on the shell,
others may not see the light within.
You have little idea the forms of hell,
those folks have seen and been in.

Without darkness there cannot be light,
one should avoid a surface deduction.
Enlightenment can walk in the dark of night,
only oneself can choose their direction.
