Happy World Sea Turtle Day! 🐢
Take a behind-the-scenes look at our brand new Collections Room with Elise and discover some of the remarkable sea turtle specimens preserved in our collection.
Six of the world’s seven sea turtle species are currently listed as endangered or critically endangered. While the green sea turtle has recently been removed from the IUCN Endangered Species List, it still faces significant threats, including entanglement in fishing gear, habitat loss, marine debris, and rising ocean temperatures.
Our Collections Room gives visitors a unique opportunity to explore specimens collected across decades, helping scientists and the public better understand how marine life has changed over time.
Join us for a Collections Room tour on Saturdays and Sundays (space is limited), or stop by our Collections Engagement Window during the week (2pm - 4pm) to learn more from our scientists.
Together, we can help protect sea turtles and the oceans they call home. 🌊
