Am I wrong for refusing to delete a viral video that currently has my mother hiding in her house and my older sister crying non-stop for over a week? My entire extended family thinks I am a ruthless jerk who publicly humiliated our own blood for no good reason. I deliberately ignored hundreds of their frantic messages while I was away on vacation. When my dad finally got a hold of me, he demanded I take the post down immediately to stop the embarrassment. He insisted I was being overly vindictive about one simple mistake they made. Most people looking from the outside would probably agree with him, seeing how much shame they are dealing with right now. But they don't know the long, painful history of broken promises behind that specific upload. They don't know the exact voice mail my mom left me just hours before the biggest milestone of my life. They have no idea about the constant, sick pattern of favoritism I endured for years before I finally fought back. The sound of her excuses playing over those empty event photos still makes my hands shake. I sat in silence, my finger hovering over the button to hang up on my dad.
