Finished by fire, not by glaze. 🔥
Long-awaited results from our first backyard pit-fire experiment 🌿
These were the two most dramatic pieces to come out of the firing. While the others didn’t pick up strong markings, there was so much learning 🧠✨
Key takeaways:
🔥 Reduction = more dramatic surfaces
🌬️ Oxidation = cleaner, softer firing
→ I need to be more intentional about creating regions of both
🎨 I also need to use way more colorants next time
✨ Burnished, white clay should help the effects show up better
