The Merry Wives of Windsor A group of singing ladies who sound like Celtic Woman went to a Flogging Molly concert and took home The Wives were founded in 2001 by Director Heather Greene.

The Merry Wives of Windsor is a twelve-piece folk band of women based in Pasadena, California. Blending elements of folk music from the British Isles and the Americas, the foundation of the Merry Wives' sound is rich vocal harmonies, with support and ornamentation by traditional and contemporary folk instruments. Our repertoire inc

ludes traditional Irish pieces and original compositions, and our performance styles range from b***y scripted shows, to amplified concerts, to casual atmospheric music. With musical backgrounds in everything from Folk to Musical Theater, and even straying to Rock and Opera, the Merry Wives present a relevant musical perspective, while still staying true to the spirit of the music they perform. These lovely and talented ladies have performed at Renaissance Faires, coffee shops, and concert venues across the country, with the bulk of our shows near our home base in Southern California. Heather had worked at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire many years, and had seen several b***y men's singing groups, but never a woman's version. She wanted to create a group of singing women that would be charming, inspiring, and empowering. Since it's inception, the Merry Wives have grown to include a past and current cast of 31 uniquely talented ladies. They have recorded nine studio albums.

No, you're not seeing double! It's another Wifely Birthday today!

Today is a day for high merriment because we also celebrate our amazing bassist, Julie! She first laced up her Chevrons last summer when our longtime bassist retired, and boy, does she fill them out splendidly! We're blown away by her talent, dedication, and ability to keep us laughing while in tempo. It's hard to believe she was ever not one of us!

Happy Birthday, Julie! We love you (and your Post-Its)!

When she’s not tearing up fiddle licks and leading audiences in the highest-energy Wave you'll ever see, she’s getting us where we need to go, ensuring we have what we need when we get there, and making sure we do it all with a smile (or with a silly face that then makes us laugh)! And, she does it all with her "Classic Darien" warm, generous, and funny nature and wit!
