To provide a platform for artists of all mediums to exhibit, promote and sell their handcrafted art. VISION

The vision of Art Squared is to be a catalyst for the advancement of the arts and art makers, as well as a contributor in helping to make San Marcos a destination for cultural experiences for our local comm

unity and visitors alike. HISTORY

In early 2012, members of the San Marcos Arts Commission proposed the idea of creating an outdoor art market in San Marcos to help increase the visibility of the arts and artists in San Marcos. In 2013 a parking area located at the Hitch: A Mobile Eatery on CM Allen Parkway, became the space to launch the first art market, titled Art Unhitched. After careful consideration, the artists along with members of the Art Commission decided to relocate the Art Market. In the fall of 2013, Art Unhitched art vendors started to organize to include forming a planning committee that soon transitioned to the Art Squared Advisory Committee made up of artists and art enthusiasts. Marketing and promotional plans were created and a new location was secured at the Hays County Courthouse in Downtown San Marcos. The new and improved, 'Art Squared Arts Market' was launched in March of 2014. Since the inaugural launch, the Arts Market has had tremendous growth both in artists' participation and with the public interest. Currently, Art Squared has initiated its plan to obtain its independence as a 501c (3). Art Squared and the San Marcos Art League have merged efforts to become a single organization and will continue to build on the success of 2014. Art Squared is grateful for all partners and visionaries who helped to make the Arts Market a reality for San Marcos. The Art Market is held on the second Saturday of the Month from March – December.

For the first time EVER, our annual K-12 Art Scared downtown event will be accompanied by an all new Art Scared Spooky Market! 👻🎃 Join us on October 19th for an all new Art Scared experience!

We are calling to vendors of all kinds to join us! Spooky, witchy and Halloween-themed items of all kinds are welcome, including handmade fine art and artisan goods, herbalism, foods, spiritual readings, etc.

This market is also special because it is open to non-Art Squared vendors. This means you do not have to be a previously approved Art Squared vendor to participate.

Applications are now open through September 27th. We hope you can join us for this all new spooky market experience 👻 see you this Fall San Marcos 🙌🏼
