New version available of my forked Pylux PS3/4/5 cloud gaming app

Quick clarification: this is an unofficial Android-focused fork of Pylux that I maintain separately from the official project. It is not the official Pylux build. The official upstream project is here: https://github.com/ForWard-Technologies-LLC/Pylux

As always, this is a forked version of an official release that i am maintaining on my own :)

If you wish to download the original, please go support their work! https://github.com/ForWard-Technologies-LLC/Pylux

However, i have been hard at work improving the stability of my app as well as introducing new features! Download here: https://github.com/Chazq2023/Pylux-Cloud-Android

- Pressing and holding over a game will now give you the option to add that game to your home screen as a shortcut, which you can launch directly into, similar to better xcloud

- Added a performance overlay feature, when in game, press the android back button to get the in game menu, and select the stats button to show the overlay

- Have added the ability to supply your own custom bitrate in the settings. Before these were hardcoded values but now you can modify them yourself to suit your wifi needs

- Fixed an issue where a hardcoded 50000 bandwidth value could cause the stream to target a much higher bitrate than the selected setting.

You will need to own the game on ps5, and must have an active ps premium subscription to use the cloud gaming features. No ps5 needed! Similar to how the ps portal operates

With the exception that you also have access to the PS4/PS3 streaming catalogue on this app, something absent from the ps portal.

You can also remote play from your ps5.

This will be my last update for a while :) i hope you enjoy!

Sneak peak: Multiple screen mirror cutouts coming to Megingiard

In my last post regarding the 0.4.0 release of my app Megingiard I teased screen mirroring cutouts coming in a future update.

Since that seemed to have met some interest with people in the comments I thought I would share a quick glimpse at the feature in action. I am making good progress and this is something I am greatly looking forward to using myself on a couple of games!

I guess the video speaks for itself, but basically I am mirroring cropped parts of the primary screen to the bottom one so that I effectively have a bigger HUD. Especially the HP bar in Mina the Hollower is hard for me to keep an eye on. In my final layout I will probably make it even bigger 😃

What would you use this feature for?

The amount of features iisu has is insanee, it gives me the freedom to really personalize my Thor. What are your thoughts on iisu?

Can’t Rain on My Parade 🌈✨

Spent some time in the car finishing up the setup on this Rainbow Thor! It’s kind of odd, but my car has become my favorite place to game & setup handhelds. This Rainbow Thor Max now has around 1.2 TB worth of games (around 10,000 in total). I’m using ESDE for the frontend with the PlayStation X theme & I normally play a few games from each console to verify functionality. It’s a rainy/ugly day in my hometown (Baltimore, MD) but there’s nothing like a little retro gaming on this beauty to brighten my day 😎✨☀️

Sharing updates on my upcoming frontend: Socket

Hi all! Just wanted to post an update for those interested in the proof of concept i posted about 6 months ago.

Its been a while and I have spent time on other projects as well, hence why I haven't been very active here. So far I have been working on starting from the ground up, polishing the experience of the launcher, creating the setup flow to add new platforms/games, automatic scraping. Its a long way from my previous post!

So far I've added support for Switch, PSX, PS2, Nintendo DS, PSP, GBA and N64. Each with their own insert animations, sounds and more! I've also added support for dual screen!

I'm very open to suggestions on what to add to the frontend, and have a lot of ideas of my own that I think are pretty cool!

I've made this launcher primarily for people like me, who don't want to download a 1000 ROM pack in which I'll only play 3 games but rather have a curated smaller library of titles I love. The goal is to have a very tactile feeling, to feel like you're a kid rummaging in your PSP cover to find the game you want to play.

Its a looong way to get it to a finished product though but I'll try and release a few builds along the way.

How I downgraded my odin 2 portal Firmware

I decided to post how i downgraded my firmware since there's just a ton of people on here telling other people to just go get it off discord. Well discord is a pain to navigate if your not a regular user so this is for people like me. This will be directions to do it just on the device it self, no pc or other device needed. From what i can tell this won't delete anything however i did this on my new Odin 2 Portal and i have only set up Artemis and Artimide for game streaming and they both remained unchanged after i did this. Hope it helps someone

Things to know/have before you start.

Make sure you have at least 30% charge or plug it into a charger while doing this.

Have a file manager app. I used one called Fossify File Manager I got off the F-droid app store.

F droid Link https://f-droid.org/en/

Steps:

Download previous firmware from this google drive link below. It required a google account so i used one i dont have linked to anything important since i dont know if it matters.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yXIYKyFp8bE0RGz7wtHUCjqzHw2u5v9y/view

2. Use the file manager app to move it to the root directory of the internal storage and rename the file to "update.zip" all lower case. In the Fossify File Manager app i used you touch and hold down on the file and than select the I icon at the top right and then just enter "update" and next and zip should already be there and hit done.

3. Navigate to settings, system then FOTA Update. Touch the 3dots in the upper right select "local update". Then select "update package" option. Navigate to the root on the internal storage and select the file you renamed to "update.zip" then OK. It will take a bit of time so this is why you want a minimum charge or plug it in. When its done select to reboot/restart and you done.

You can verify you updated by going to settings, about handheld console and scroll to the bottom.

Setup (important for new buyers)
-YOU DONT NEED A FRONTEND-
It just makes Android look nice and more console like, it provides no real value beyond that and customizing it. Up until a month ago I didn’t run one. I got it in January.
It’s a basic Android device, think any tablet or Android phone, setup is easy and quick, if you can set those up, you can set one of these up no problem. However it’s not seamless to download emulators, configure settings, those things, even no gamehub and Eden/pc and switch, is still extremely difficult, for any of those a side by side video with any popular YouTuber you like would be best, follow them, and you should be fully done in a day or 2 with every emulator.

Long term (since setup)
I’ve tried dozens of pc games, older CODs, random simulators, RDR2, GTA5, and many random ones since then the new drivers and recent gamehub updates in the last 2-3 months, I’ve also tried a ton of switch games, of which Mario odyssey and tears of the kingdom, have both been extremely troublesome, on both Eden and Eden nightly.
Let me be clear, every other switch game has worked that I’ve tried, and many pc games have worked, and with a 120hz screen even a consistent 30 feels smooth.

Problems
My only real gripes are low read/write speeds to the sd card, which makes extracting things a huge pain, could be my card of choice tho, mods don’t always work with pc games -to be expected considering were converting x86 to work on arm. Also the Nintendo switch games, I really want Mario odyssey and TOTK to work properly, a stable 30 (or 60, won’t complain) without glitches, in Mario’s defense it does a 60 stable, just weird graphic flashes, and TOTK I can’t get stable, and there’s graphical flashes, Eden nightly is more stable for that one. Which I guess leads to my next gripe. THE MIXING AND MATCHING OF EMULATORS is so frustrating, I hate that I need multiple switch, and 3-5 pc emulators to constantly try things, it can be very tiring and frustrating trying to troubleshoot. I have kind of just resorted to Eden, and gamehub, and I hardly use the nightly/modded versions, just cause it gets too much to remember what for what game. This can be resolved, or so i believe, by using a front end to create a shortcut for whatever game, on whatever emulator, so you don’t mix/match or have to remember, just click and it opens that respective one.
I also guess I could include the fan/heat issues, though really non issues to me, I put on an undervolt, rooted the device, and play Fortnite as well with no issues.

The overall verdict
I love this thing. I use it daily, sometimes for hours and hours, recently I got a nose surgery that forced me out of work at my sales job for 2 weeks, wrongfully, and unpaid, also illegal in my state, but that’s a hassle for another day, and a story for another day.
This device does everything I love, and I have been streaming my ps5 with no issues, would even love to stream my pc, I just can’t seem to get it to work right, which I will eventually learn again. Been contemplating building a bc-250 and finding a way to stream that to the Odin of possible, would be an awesome way to game. I love tinkering, I also love how small and light it is, the screen genuinely looks better than the 4k lcd tv I have at home. This device has been by far my favorite used device, and once I find a way to play pc games at high settings 1080p it’ll replace like all my devices, and I strongly suggest one.

How to: connect BT headphones with ONE tap

Hey everyone! Today I would like to show you a new feature that was just released in my app Megingiard, which is specifically made just for the Thor!

In the video you can see how I effortlessly record a series of touch gestures to connect my AirPods to the Thor and save it to a custom button that sits on the second screen. I go from a button that has no functionality to one that saves me from a daily nuisance in just 45 seconds. Sorry for the reflections on the screen 😂

Custom macro buttons (with gamepad, keyboard, touch...) are imho the strongest suit of the app, but it has a ton of other features like screen mirroring as you can see in the video as well. Check it out, it is free with sources available on Github :)

PS: to have an easier time showcasing the feature, I left out the two taps on the "back" arrow that would have brought me back to the game. Normally you would of course add those as well for a full roundtrip :)
